In this article, we shall go over the Heatproofing passive skill in Path of Exile 2 and answer why it may not be worth purchasing.
Path of Exile 2 throws you into a grim world filled with quests to undertake and weapons and Armor to find. Armor, in particular, has been a hot topic for the Path of Exile 2 community lately, with many considering it to be underpowered. The game’s latest patch has addressed the issue and improved various aspects of Armor, including skills such as heatproofing.
Heatproofing in Path of Exile 2 is a passive skill that applies 25 percent of your Armor to Fire Damage taken from hits. You find this skill on the bottom left of the game’s Passives menu. On paper, this skill may seem like the perfect skill to enhance your defensive capabilities.
However, does this translate to scenarios in the game? Is Heatproofing worth it in Path of Exile 2? Unfortunately, the Heatproofing skill is not worth it, despite the improvements made to Armor. In this article, we shall go over the Heatproofing passive skill in Path of Exile 2 and answer why it may not be worth purchasing.

Most Armor in Path of Exile 2 does not offer defense against elemental damage, making the Heatproofing skill seem like an attractive option. The idea of 25 percent of your Armor dedicated to fend off fire damage seems like a solid deal, but there is more to this mechanic than meets the eye.
The first thing you need to know about Armor in Path of Exile 2 is that Armor is applied before elemental Resistance. The second thing you need to know about Armor is that the mitigation applied is based on the damage you take. As a result, the larger the damage you take, the smaller the mitigation. So, if we were being totally blunt, these two combine to make Armor absolutely useless.
Now, let’s factor in the Heatproofing skill into this equation. When you take fire damage, 25 percent of your Armor steps in to defend you at first, overstepping ahead of your Fire Resistance. However, keep in mind that the larger the damage, the smaller the mitigation provided by the Armor.
This means that the protection offered by the Armor against fire damage is minimal, and your Fire Resistance is still doing most of the heavy lifting. Heatproofing, therefore, is not worth it at this moment. Despite recent buffs, the skill is still weak and not worth investing points into.
