Is Phil Cassidy Coming Back in GTA 6?

The character was seen briefly on a TV screen advertising “Phil’s Ammu-Nation” while going out guns blazing. This led to fans theorizing that he might be coming back in the new installment, even if it’s just for a minor role in the story.

Phil Cassidy Lost His Left Arm in GTA Vice City

However, there is a problem with this theory. In the original 3D universe of the GTA series, Phil Cassidy is known for having lost his left arm due to a boomshine explosion while intoxicated, as depicted in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Contrarily, the character in the GTA 6 trailer appears to have both arms intact.

In a Reddit post by VX97, a user commented on how the personality is suspiciously similar:

“It has to be, but he did lose his arm in OG Vice City. Name, looks, personality, all the same. There’s no way its not him.”

This discrepancy suggests that the character in the trailer may not be the same Phil Cassidy from the 3D universe. Instead, it could be a reinterpretation or homage within the HD universe of GTA 6, which is separate from the earlier games’ continuity. Rockstar Games often includes such nods to past characters, and this might be one of them.

A Potential Retcon
