Read more to find out if Konami’s upcoming survival horror title, Silent Hill f, is canon to the series and how it fits in the story.

Silent Hill f is an upcoming entry in the iconic survival horror series by Konami. It’s the first major title of the franchise in over a decade. After multiple remasters of the original games, Konami is finally ready to add a new story to the series. While little is known about the plot, its 1960s Japanese setting makes it clear that this won’t be another Western-inspired tale.
With that said, Konami has confirmed that Silent Hill f will be a standalone title. This means it’s not tied to the original canon story. Instead, it will follow its own narrative set in Japan.

Silent Hill f Is an Independent Story
In an X post made by Silent Hill Japan, Silent Hill f is a “completely new work independent from the series.” The post went on to say that players who are not familiar with the series will be able to enjoy it. This means you don’t need prior knowledge of the older Silent Hill titles or remakes to understand the upcoming game.
The full caption translation reads:
“This work is a completely new work independent from the series. Even those who have never played the「SILENT HILL」 series can enjoy it. ”

It looks like Silent Hill f will have little to no connection to the previous titles in the series. However, keep in mind that Konami has yet to confirm if the upcoming game will share the same universe as its predecessors. With that said, fans will have to keep their eyes peeled for more updates in the future.
For years, the series has been synonymous with the eerie, fog-covered streets of the small Western town of Silent Hill. While it has become an iconic location, it is also limited in how far the narrative can branch out. Konami first attempted to do this in Silent Hill 4: The Room. This title moved away from the traditional setting and introduced new themes of isolation and confinement. In Silent Hill f, it looks like a total shift in aesthetics as it embraces the distinct style of Japanese horror.
