Tales of the Shire, a game based on the universe of The Lord of the Rings, will release later this month. But will it be available on the Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus?

Tales of the Shire is a game that is based on The Lord of the Rings universe. The game takes a new approach to the Middle Earth setting. While you may be familiar with the war-torn world of the well-known media franchise, here, you lead a peaceful, easy-going life of a hobbit.
You get to live through fishing, farming, cooking, and forming relationships in the countryside part of the Shire. With that being said, the game’s upcoming release might have raised the question of its availability on console passes. Unfortunately, the Tales of the Shire is not present on the Xbox Game Pass or the PS Plus. Nevertheless, it is present on PC and the majority of current-gen consoles.
Will Tales of the Shire Be Available on Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus in the Future?

At the time of writing, there are no details about Tales of the Shire arriving on the Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus in the future. Private Division is yet to make any announcements about adding the game to subscription services. This means you will have to purchase the game at full price if you want to play it.
However, that doesn’t mean Tales of the Shire will never be added to Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus. Most games eventually make their way to these subscription services. So there is a possibility that this game will be added later down the line.
Supported Platforms for Tales of the Shire
The game is currently available on the following consoles:
- PC via Steam
- Xbox Series X/S
- PlayStation 5
- Nintendo Switch
The game is set to release on July 30, 2025. For now, you can add the game to your wishlist so you can purchase it once it’s available.
Is Tales of the Shire Worth Buying?
The game is worth buying if you enjoy cozy games and the concept of roleplaying a simple life of a regular hobbit. It works similarly to titles like Stardew Valley, where you mostly enjoy a relaxing gameplay with little to no combat mechanics. Needless to say, it’s the perfect combination for The Lord of the Rings fans and cozy gamers alike.
However, if cozy games are not your cup of tea, it might not be worth buying. You can patiently wait for it to possibly arrive on Xbox Game Pass or PS Plus.
