Is the Radeon RX 7600 Still Worth It for Budget 1080p Gaming in Late 2025?

The Radeon RX 7600 has been considered the budget champion for a while. But is it still worth buying, especially in 2025? Let’s find out.

The AMD Radeon RX 7600 was originally launched in May 2023 with a price tag of $269. However, it soon came down to $249 and stayed at that price, even in 2025. At $249, this Radeon GPU quickly became one of the best graphics cards for budget users. Nevertheless, it has been more than two years since it launched. Other budget cards, such as the Intel Arc B570 and Nvidia RTX 5050, have launched since then. This begs the question: Is the AMD Radeon RX 7600 still worth buying, especially in late 2025? Let’s find out in this detailed performance assessment of this AMD GPU.

Radeon RX 7600: A Detailed Assessment At 1080p

Before we begin assessing how the Radeon RX 7600 performs in gaming, let’s check out its specs. This allows you to get a general overview of what this card is capable of. Here are the specs of this GPU:

Judging by the number of shader cores, RT cores, TMUs, memory bandwidth, and other specs, it is clear that the Radeon RX 7600 is a budget GPU. These specs appear to be enough for decent 1080p gaming, but the limited 8GB VRAM is concerning, especially in 2025.

Also, the Radeon RX 7600’s power consumption seems fine. It requires just a single 8-pin PCIe power connector. However, even though it has 32 RT cores, don’t expect it to have great ray tracing performance. Older AMD GPUs like this don’t perform great in ray tracing.

Note: The two GPUs tested here were evaluated at a 1080p resolution with High/Ultra Settings, unless otherwise specified. All the FPS numbers were sourced from the Pixel Bench channel on YouTube. For the tests, the two graphics cards were paired with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU.

The Radeon RX 7600 delivered 60+ FPS in 8 out of the 11 games tested at 1080p. Therefore, it is still capable of delivering a smooth 60 FPS performance in 2025. However, it didn’t manage to achieve 60 FPS in four games. However, you can use FSR to increase performance to 60+ FPS in those.

The only game where this Radeon GPU performed the worst was in Stalker 2, but then again, this game performs badly on all GPUs. In the other games, the Radeon RX 7600 performed more than good enough. The only caveat is its limited 8GB VRAM, which is problematic in games like The Last of Us: Part 1, where it scored only 52 FPS.

The Radeon RX 7600 XT has similar specs, but comes with 16GB VRAM. The higher VRAM allows it to score higher than the non-XT variant in The Last of Us: Part 1. This shows that the non-XT variant is certainly quite capable, but its lower VRAM decreases its performance in some games.

The Radeon RX 7600 $249 on Amazon, which is not a great price, especially for an 8GB card in 2025. However, it’s not a bad price either. It’s somewhere in the middle.

Is Radeon RX 7600 Worth Buying in Late 2025?

The Radeon RX 7600 is certainly worth buying for 1080p gaming, even in 2025. This is despite having limited 8GB VRAM. That’s because this GPU delivers 60+ FPS in many popular games at 1080p. However, there are other GPUs like Intel Arc B570 and Nvidia RTX 5050 in 2025, which deliver around 5 – 10% performance, depending on the game.

The RTX 5050 has only 8GB VRAM. So it will face the same memory issues as the Radeon GPU. The only GPU that’s truly better than the Radeon RX 7600 is the Intel Arc B570. That’s because this card performs better and also has 10GB VRAM. However, the latter may have driver issues in some games, while the former will run flawlessly.

There is no perfect GPU, especially in the budget section. You can still buy the Radeon RX 7600, which will deliver a decent performance in current AAA and esports titles, but may struggle in some memory-heavy games released in the future. But you can choose the Intel Arc B570 if you want future-proofing. However, you should be mindful of the driver issues that may or may not occur.
