Does Sea of Thieves Support Cross-Play Between PS5, Xbox and PC?

Players will be pleased to know that Sea of Thieves supports crossplay across all the available platforms, allowing them to team up with their friends on PS5, Xbox, and PC. As multiplayer is a core aspect of this live-service game, the crossplay feature ensures players can join forces with friends and crewmates regardless of their platform. However, you need an active Xbox Live or PlayStation Plus subscription for respective platforms for crossplay or multiplayer in general.

In addition to crossplay, Sea of Thieves also supports cross-save (or cross-progression), allowing players to carry their in-game progression from one platform to another seamlessly.  The requirement of a Microsoft account to sign in to the game simplifies data transfer across various platforms.

How To Disable Crossplay in Sea of Thieves

Accessing crossplay in Sea of Thieves is straightforward, as the feature is enabled by default. However, you can also disable the option if you prefer not to mingle with players on other platforms. It can be done simply by the following steps:

  • Launching the Sea of Thieves and opening the Settings menu.
  • Find the ‘Allow Crossplay’ option by navigating to the Matchmaking section.
  • Enabling the ‘Allow Crossplay’ option allows players to join servers across all platforms while disabling it restricts matchmaking to players on the same platform.
  • Save your changes and exit the Settings menu.

While joining forces across platforms is exhilarating, many console players prefer sticking to their own platforms due to the increasing prevalence of cheaters in the PC version.
