WhatsApp is the staple of social, personal, and even business needs. Several people worldwide are dependent on WhatsApp for various needs. The app is a part of the Meta family of apps, like Instagram, Facebook, etc.

It was at 8 a.m. EDT (5:30 p.m. IST) when the initial wave of complaints started rolling in. About 600 users logged reports of WhatsApp being down. Post the initial wave, even more reports were logged at about 10 a.m. EDT (7:30 p.m. IST), marking a spike in the number of people experiencing these issues.

According to the data, about 88% of the complaints stated being unable to send messages. Additionally, about 10% reported problems with WhatsApp itself. The remaining 2% shared issues regarding logging into the app. Besides these issues, quite a few people also encountered issues with uploading statuses and faced problems regarding group chats.

What’s Next?

Interestingly enough, some people observed that the issues were temporarily resolved before they reappeared again. The total number of complaints climbed to 872 by 10:15 a.m. EDT (7:45 p.m. IST). As of now, the issue remains unresolved. We advise users to monitor official channels for further updates. Officially, there has been no announcement on what could be the cause of WhatsApp being down.
