IShowSpeed will stream his upcoming China travel series on Douyin as YouTube has been banned in the country since 2009.

YouTube streamer Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. revealed that he will livestream his upcoming trip to China on Douyin. The streamer created a new account and asked his fans to watch him on the Chinese website.
The news has disappointed some IShowSpeed fans, as Douyin is unavailable in many countries. Many fans are asking Speed if he will upload the livestreams on YouTube after he returns, but he has not responded to his audience.
The China tour kicks off on March 24, 2025, at 12:00 PM (noon) Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). After IShowSpeed’s China tour concludes, the streamer will visit Mongolia for his next travel series.
Why Is IShowSpeed Streaming on Douyin?
China permanently banned YouTube in 2009 as part of its “Great Firewall” censorship policies. Tourists can access the website on foreign internet service providers (ISPs), but citizens cannot access the website in most regions without using a virtual private network (VPN).
Why? Youtube is illegal in China and banned. Risking Prison.

Several internet users expressed their concerns about IShowSpeed streaming on YouTube, with some claiming that he could face prison time. The streamer addressed his audience’s concerns and decided to stream on Douyin instead.
Unfortunately for many IShowSpeed fans, Douyin is unavailable in many countries. Internet users without Douyin access will have to wait for IShowSpeed to upload his travel content on YouTube after he returns or find workarounds to watch IShowSpeed’s content.
How To Watch Speed’s Upcoming China Tour on Douyin
Douyin does not allow users to link to each other’s profiles like other social media platforms. Users need to head to the official Douyin website and search for “IShowSpeed.” His identification tag is 23294514690, which is visible on his official profile.
