YouTube streamer Darren “IShowSpeed” is no stranger to anime. The streamer has previously expressed his interest in this field. Earlier today (February 17, 2025), Darren posted a short review of a relatively new anime series called Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. The series is based on the manga of the same name, which was released in 2020 and originally written by Kanehito Yamada.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End was released on September 29, 2023, and recently, it was announced that Frieren had been renewed for a second season.

The anime series is a fantasy and adventure-themed show centered around elven mage Frieren. While the show has a solid 8.9-star rating on IMDB, IShowSpeed wasn’t particularly impressed by it. The streamer ended up labeling the show as “boring.” He wrote:

What Anime Does IShowSpeed Watch?

YouTube streamer IShowSpeed has talked about several Anime shows he’s watched. His favorite, however, is One Piece. He’s had the iconic Monkey D. Luffy (the main character of One Piece) as his YouTube display picture since the beginning, making it almost synonymous with his name.

Recently, he gave his room a makeover, adding One Piece-themed props and decor. Notably, his table resembles Luffy’s signature Gum-Gum Pistol punch. Watch it here:

The show’s producers recently acknowledged IShowSpeed’s love for One Piece. Additionally, during a stream in January 2025, he revealed that he had received permission to stream the anime on his YouTube channel. He said:

“Chat, I met the producer of One Piece. Right? And chat, guess what she said? Guess what the producer of One Piece said, y’all. She said she will let me stream all- she will whitelist my channel for me to stream all the One Piece episodes on my channel.”

The streamer added:

“So, chat, I will be able to watch One Piece episodes without getting copyrighted on my channel. And chat, nobody never gotten that, chat. Yo, chat, nobody has never gotten that. No YouTuber, streamer, Twitch or whatever, chat. Nobody has never gotten that.”

He has even expressed his desire to see a One Piece collaboration with Fortnite:

“Before I die, Fortnite, please add One Piece into the game.”

Recently, IShowSpeed sat down for an interview with GQ. They asked him to name his top five anime series. Subsequently, he listed Erased, Kingdom, Black Clover, Naruto, and One Piece as his favorites.
