Content creator iShowSpeed recently gifted a kid $1,000 to support his family after beating him in a Fortnite Wager.
Popular content creator Darren Jason Watkins Jr., aka iShowSpeed, was recently participating in “Fortnite Wagers.” For those unfamiliar with the term, Fortnite Wagers refer to matches where players put money on the line in a winner-takes-all format.
After iShowSpeed won a wager against a player on stream, the defeated kid had something to say to the content creator. He told the streamer that he had only $5 left for food and no money. Speed felt bad for the kid and sent him $1,000 via Cash App.
A clip from the stream went viral on social media, and viewers are questioning if the incident is legitimate. Many Twitter users claim that the kid “finessed” Speed on stream and made the scenario up so the streamer would send money.
Internet Users Feel iShowSpeed Got “Fleeced”
After winning the wager, Speed asks the kid why he put money on the line, to which the kid responds:
“So we could have an opportunity to have more food for the family. We only have $5 to share.”
Viewers noticed that the kid abruptly muted his microphone for a few seconds. After unmuting, a female voice says:
“Don’t we have no money for food today?”
Multiple Netizens found this moment suspicious. They thought the kid tried to fleece iShowSpeed and recover the money he lost from the wager. Members in his livestream were also suspicious, but iShowSpeed asked for the kid’s Cash App ID and sent him $1,000.
Despite the kid’s suspicious behavior, most internet users and his chat commended Speed’s generosity.
Speed’s Recent Acts of Generosity
iShowSpeed has publicly donated to various individuals and causes in his streams. In September 2024, he met soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo and donated $100,000 to an orphaned child.
He also donated $50,000 in June 2024 to Palestine Relief after he won MrBeast’s Wipeout challenge. Speed has also donated money to single mothers, senior citizens, and the unhoused in his videos and livestreams.
In 2022, he participated in the Sidemen content group’s charity match to raise money for multiple non-profit organizations. The match broke the Guinness World Record for most viewers for a charity sports match live stream.
