Japanese IRL streamer Mogami Ai tragically passes away from cardiac arrest after being stabbed live on stream.
In a tragic incident, Japanese IRL streamer Mogami Ai ( aka Airi Soto) has died after getting stabbed by an individual on stream. She was livestreaming in Takadanobaba, Japan, when an individual attacked her. Reports state that an “anti-fan” attacked her, stabbing her multiple times and causing fatal injuries. The streamer eventually succumbed to her wounds and passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Several clips from her broadcast went viral on social media which showed the perpetrator.

A suspect was arrested following the attack, who is believed to be in his 40s. During the time of the attack, Mogami was with her brother, who went into a store. While she was alone, the perpetrator stabbed her. During the livestream, the streamer could be heard asking for help. Reports suggest that the streamer was screaming for help for over a minute.
After the stabbing, the alleged perpetrator took over the livestream and started broadcasting the scene. The viewers expressed their confusion in the live chat, asking whether it was a real attack. The suspect kept panning the camera over on Mogami, after which authorities quickly arrived. The suspect was asked if he was the one to do it, to which he agreed.

During the livestream, reports suggest that the streamer had over 6,500 viewers. While her popularity in Japan was massive, the streamer was also popular in other countries like Vietnam. The alleged perpetrator was believed to be a long-time fan who was enraged after getting blocked by the streamer. Mogami had reportedly received over $13,000 in tips from the person, which he wanted refunded.
