Controversial streamer and YouTuber Ramsey Khalid Ismael, better known online as Johnny Somali, has been at the forefront of the news lately. The streamer is notorious for his public disruptions and disturbances. One of his most infamous cases was during his time in Japan. The streamer lived there for several months, where he was seen harassing the public. This led to his arrest and alleged deportation from the country.
Currently, the streamer is hosting his first-ever South Korean trip. Much like his stay in Japan, this one too has ended up garnering numerous controversies. This article will focus on five such instances where Somali was found engaged in questionable actions.
5 Johnny Somali Controversies From His South Korean Trip
1) Kissing the Statue of Peace
Johnny Somali’s actions have once again landed him in trouble. The streamer has been involved in several controversies during his time in South Korea. One of the most notable incidents occurred when he kissed the Statue of Peace in Seoul, a monument of significant sentimental value to Koreans, as it honors the women who were victims of sexual slavery during wartime.
Following this incident, Somali faced significant backlash and was even formally charged by the police for public disruption. Earlier this month (November 2024), he was seen making a public apology in front of a local crowd, stating that he was unaware of the statue’s significance.
2) Shares AI Deep Fake Video of Female Creator

Continuing his pattern of getting into trouble, Johnny Somali found himself facing potential legal charges once again after he was seen sharing an AI-deep fake video of fellow Korean creator Bongbong. Bongbong, an IRL (in real life) Kick streamer, had recently collaborated with Somali.
However, days after their collaboration, Somali shared an AI deepfake video of the female creator kissing him. This sparked further backlash and led Bongbong to file a formal complaint at the police station.

One of Johnny Somali’s infamous stunts is to enter public transport, often in subways, and blast music that is often inappropriate or offensive. He did something similar on September 30, 2024, when he played an obscene TTS (text-to-speech) audio during his stream in public, disturbing commuters.
Authorities naturally took note of his actions, and he was later confronted by security. As a result, the streamer was removed from the train.

His opening days in South Korea were already quite controversial, as he was seen creating disruptive content in public. Somali has previously faced legal trouble for similar antics in Japan. In one incident, the streamer was seen walking onto the stage of a live music show in public, causing further disruption.
Naturally, this caused confusion among the other participants and the audience due to the streamer’s abrupt actions. The members quickly directed him to move away from the scene before he left.
5) Harasses French Singer in Seoul
Johnny Somali (Ramsey Khalid Ismael) harassed a French man who lives in Seoul, Korea while he was performing. I have emailed him (jeremy.amadei@gmail.com) urging him to file a police report. If anyone knows this man please urge him to file a police report as well. #johnnysomali pic.twitter.com/9uJ4yf0Nh2

The last incident on this list occurred during one of his earlier streams in South Korea. Johnny Somali was seen approaching a French street singer and guitarist, attempting to make money off his performance in the streets of Seoul. As with his other antics, Somali interrupted the singer’s performance, causing a disturbance.
The streamer kept asking the French individual if he was a tourist or a bot, and if he was a tourist, he claimed he wasn’t allowed to make money on the street in Korea. This was naturally a disturbing experience for the singer, who appeared confused by Somali’s rant.
