YouTuber Keemstar called Twitch streamer Pokimane an NPC who supports some “woke game dev” after she said transphobia is bad.
YouTuber Daniel “Keemstar” Keem called out Twitch streamer Imane “Pokimane” Anys for supporting trans rights. He said she is posting “NPC” things that some “woke game dev” told her to say.
The term “NPC,” or non-playable character, originated from video games that typically feature NPCs or artificial intelligence (AI) characters. In modern internet culture, the term is used as slang to refer to people who don’t think for themselves. When people repeat other opinions or have predictable conversations, they are often called NPCs.
Keemstar alleged that Pokimane was paid by a woke game developer to support trans rights. Trans rights and representation have been hot topics among video game players. Many feel that “woke” game devs indulge in tokenism and do not care about actual representation. While others allege that a lot of hate against representation comes from bigotry.
Pokimane and Keemstar’s Feud Explained
On January 29, 2025, Pokimane posted a tweet that said, “Transphobia is bad.”. Fans speculate that she tweeted as a response to President Donald Trump’s executive order restricting gender care for anyone under 19.
After seeing her tweet, Keemstar said on X:
“The internet’s NPC is posting NPC things that some woke game dev coded the NPC to say.”
This is not the first time that Keemstar called out the Twitch streamer. In a podcast with Kick streamer Steven “Destiny” Bonnell in 2020, Keemstar said:
“It’s incredibly hard for me to ever forgive her and be cool with her because she talks behind the scenes to industry people, negatively about me and she’s caused me some problems. She’s been trying to sabotage me forever and I hate her, like I just hate her.”
Keemstar has a history of going after Twitch streamers, including Ludwig Ahgren, Blaire “QTCinderella,” and Pokimane. His provocative style of content has remained popular for over a decade. The YouTuber has over 5.32 million subscribers on YouTube, and almost all of his content revolves around content creator drama.
Fans React to Keemstar’s Tweet
Keemstar’s X followers agreed with his comments on Pokimane while others took the Twitch streamer’s side. Here are some of the top comments:
“I have to agree with her on this one mr keemstar,” wrote @SynTheFeer.
“A grown man calling someone an npc is the most pathetic thing I’ve seen today,” said @Rina_urrr.
“These people are delusional. Nobody is scared of trans people, they’re just tired of it being shoved down everyone’s throats and demanded they play along with their delusions,” @BeccaB1221 commented.
“Now that it’s trendy to hate on trans people keem has switched sides,” said @mattdude255.
“Content creators and streamers need to stick to entertaining and stay out of politics and political issues,” @kevOzilla commented.
Pokimane shut down internet users who disagreed with her in the original tweet. However, the Twitch streamer has not responded to Keemstar’s comments so far.
