Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani claimed Adin Ross was banned from Twitch to avoid competition with his platform.

Twitch banned Kick streamer Adin Ross in 2023 due to controversial messages in his chat. However, a recent tweet by Kick co-founder Bijan Tehrani claims that the “real reason” Twitch banned Ross was to curb competition. He alleged that Ross would convert some of his Twitch viewers to Kick viewers and create a competitive environment between the streaming platforms.
Tehrani alleged that Ross streaming on both platforms would “push Twitch views over” to Kick due to its largely unmoderated content. The streamer was banned at a time when Twitch was cracking down on gambling. The Amazon-owned streaming platform does not allow online casinos, while Ross had a long-term partnership with online casino Stake.
Ross paused his Stake sponsorship in January 2025 and is focusing on online boxing events featuring content creators. With Twitch announcing changes to its ban policies, there is a chance that Adin Ross will return to Twitch.
Bijan Tehrani Calls Out Twitch Over Adin Ross Ban
An internet user posted a tweet talking about how it has been two years since Adin Ross’ ban from Twitch. Bijan Tehrani retweeted the post and said:
“The real reason Adin got perma-banned after switching to Kick was not ‘unmoderated chat’ it was to stop Adin from pushing Twitch viewers over.”

Tehrani commented on the ban just days after Twitch CEO Dan Clancy accused Kick of copying Twitch. He said in an interview with Fast Company magazine:
“[TikTok] was the first platform that didn’t just copy Twitch. YouTube just made Twitch on YouTube. Facebook just made Twitch on Facebook. Kick downright copied the site.”
Clancy also compared Twitch to other streaming platforms. His platform is often criticized for its moderation policies, while Kick has fewer restrictions. The CEO said:
“If you don’t like what somebody is saying, then don’t watch their channel. There are certain things that are off limits, but I don’t think that has changed…we have the same policies, and I think most people still would consider that saying those words is hateful.”
The rivalry between both streaming platforms continues as they compete for viewership. Despite Tehrani’s comments, Ross told his fans that he wanted to return to Twitch and co-stream on Kick.
Ross Recently Called Out Censorship on Streaming Platforms
Adin Ross appeared in an interview with YouTuber Alex G and called out censorship on streaming platforms and social media. He said:
“I’ve always been very vocal about what I believe in. If I feel some type about something, I’m never going to mask it. I’m never going to hide it. I’m going to speak on it. You know, every single time I’ve ever had a thought, I’ve ever had a thought or an opinion, I’ll just voice it. I don’t care who likes it, who doesn’t like it.”
The streamer said he lost money for voicing his opinions and did not like censorship. With Twitch relaxing its moderation policies in a recent Community Guidelines update, Ross may return to the platform. Permanent bans on Twitch are now “indefinite,” and streamers can contest their bans after six months.
