Learn about the latest changes in Roblox content maturity ratings and how they affect 17+ rated games on the platform.

Popular YouTuber KreekCraft has claimed that “17+ Roblox games are done” in a reaction to the platform’s change in content maturity policy. This comes days after Roblox announced a new rating system. Each game will now come with a minimum age rating, and the platform is removing any games that fail to obtain a rating by September 30, 2025.
On August 28, Roblox announced a new content maturity change that will make changes to how 17+ games are rated. KreekCraft reacted to the news in a post on X and said that all games that are currently 17+ rated will be “done” because they will become “Adult Only” and minors will no longer be able to search or play them:
“17+ Roblox games are done. Roblox is making all 17+ games into 18+ (Adult Only) games. These games will also now be hidden from anyone under 18. You’ll need to verify your age with a Government ID to play them.”

As per the official announcement on the Roblox forums, users who are under 18 can no longer see, search, or play any game on the platform that has a “restricted maturity content label.” Roblox claims this will make content on the platform more age-appropriate.
Previously, games with the restricted label were 17+. Sometime this year, Roblox will change the ratings for those games to 18+ only. This will make many 17+ games unavailable for a significant portion of the platform. Minors won’t even be able to search for them as per the new policy.
This relies heavily on the recently introduced age verification rules on the platform. Earlier this year, Roblox added this feature amid the ongoing child exploitation lawsuits against the platform. All users must now verify their age to access things such as unfiltered chat.
This involves allowing the platform to take your photo of your government-issued ID card and yourself. On paper, Roblox claims that this is to make it harder for predators to mingle with minors. Only time will tell if their changes to the mature content policy and age verification bring meaningful change.
