To the delight of Apple fans, leaked images of iPhone 17 Air prototype devices have been in circulation, sparking debates and discussions in the community. Surprisingly, these leaks offer a clear glimpse of the design and size, along with other specifications of the upcoming iPhone 17 Air.

A Closer Look at the Design of Leaked iPhone 17 Air

Based on what can be gleaned from the leaked images, the iPhone Air will be 2mm slimmer than the rest of the variants from the same series. This reduction in size would bring its overall thickness to a mere 5.5mm.

Apple seems to be pushing further towards a sleeker iPhone without compromising key features. As evident from the side-by-side comparison with the rest of the iPhone 17 models, the iPhone 17 Air seems to prioritize a form factor that is lighter and perhaps more comfortable to handle.

Display and Camera Specifications

As inferred from the leaked images, we can expect the iPhone 17 Air to feature a 6.6-inch display. This display size would position it neatly between the Pro model (6.3-inch) and the Pro Max model (6.9-inch). Our guess is that this median size is a strategic choice in order to provide a bigger screen without the risks of bending that are usually associated with ultra-thin smartphones.

Additionally, the leaked images also shed some light on the camera specifications of the iPhone 17 Air. It appears that this smartphone will reportedly include a single 48-megapixel rear camera. Moreover, we can also expect features like a dynamic island cutout, a dedicated Camera Control button, as well as a 120Hz ProMotion display on this new iPhone. Unfortunately, the news on the processor front is somewhat sad. Unlike the Pro models which are powered by a more advanced chip, the iPhone Air 17 will reportedly house the standard Apple A19 chip.

The discussion around the aspect of connectivity of the new design seems to be quite interesting. Initially, some reports suggested that Apple planned on making the iPhone 17 Air completely wireless. This meant getting rid of the charging and data ports. However, according to the leak, it is reported that the iPhone 17 Air will be retaining the USB-C port.

Looking past the present model, experts view these design shifts as a part of Apple’s broader strategy. Moreover, they also believe that the advancements that will be the foundation of the iPhone 17 Air might pave the way for future innovations. These innovations could possibly include foldable designs, although we don’t expect to see those until as late as 2026.
