World Travel, the team behind the recently taken down Liberty City Preservation Project (LCPP) Mod for GTA 5 reacts to the drama surrounding the FiveM multiplayer mod. Earlier this year, the project made waves in the modding community before abruptly shut down by Rockstar Games.

However, recent reports suggest that the takedown may not have been entirely legitimate. This is due to a recent drama between the GTA 5 multiplayer mod FiveM where a document alleges that there are bad actors within the modding team. This shady bunch reportedly played a role in the LCPP mod’s removal.

Keep in mind that these allegations are also currently unverified. Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar Games have yet to publicly address these concerns. This means we should take these allegations with a grain of salt.

The FiveM Controversy and Allegations of Internal Misconduct

Earlier today, a detailed report surfaced alleging internal chaos within the team behind the FiveM project for GTA 5. According to the report, a group called “Groot Gang” was trying to gain control of the FiveM project even before the acquisition happened.

After Rockstar Games acquired FiveM, the group leveraged its connections to secure senior positions within the project, allegedly with the assistance of Rockstar employee Ethan Hirsch. This resulted in management issues which also, allegedly, caused the GTA 5 source code leak back in December 2023.

Another piece of information included in the report is speculation that FiveM will soon be replaced with Project ROME. The report states that the team previously proposed ways to integrate the multiplayer mod into the GTA Source Code. However, their ideas were completely shot down. According to the reports, this is because a separate project was under development named ROME which is said to be a better version of FiveM.

The report speculates that FiveM is currently in maintenance mode. Once Project ROME is ready for deployment, the FiveM mod may be shut down for good.

The Liberty City Mod Team Speaks Out

In response to the unfolding controversy, World Travel issues a statement sharing his thoughts about the matter. According to their account, a representative from Rockstar Games requested the removal of the LCPP mod, citing legal concerns. The conversation seemed professional at first. As a gesture of good faith, World Travel complied and ensured that both parties had a mutual understanding of how to communicate this to the community.

However, after the mod takedown, the Rockstar representative allegedly went radio silent. Things took a strange turn when World Travel noticed that one of the paid Liberty City mods had suddenly incorporated key features from LCPP. These were custom-made props, bug fixes, animated signs, and more.

When World Travel attempted to communicate with their Rockstar contact with evidence, they were informed that the matter had been forwarded to enforcement teams. However, the paid mods are still active with a hefty price tag.

According to World Travel, “It seems like claims made in the original FiveM developers’ blog are correct. I don’t want to get into speculation, but it wouldn’t be surprising if someone is getting a slice of the pie.”

While World Travel refrains from making direct accusations, they acknowledge that the circumstances surrounding LCPP’s takedown are suspicious, and they can no longer be certain if the removal request was entirely legitimate.

If the allegations made by the World Travel team hold, there is a chance that the fan-favorite passion project, LCPP mod, could be allowed to resurface. However, the claims need to be verified and proven that someone falsely posed as a Rockstar representative for financial gain. At the time of writing this article, the mod in question is still unobtainable through legitimate means. Players who wish to download the LCPP mod can do so by visiting 3rd party websites. However, this is not recommended as these websites might include malware or any form of virus that could harm your PC or steal private information.
