Lost Soul Aside is a single-player role-playing game (RPG) whose main form of combat is using different bladed weapons. The main character, Kaser, is helped in combat by Arena, a dragon-like warrior who also grants Kaser special abilities. How Does the Combat Work in Lost Souls Aside?
The main form of combat in Lost Soul Aside comes from Arena, Kaser’s companion. While he serves as a means of traversal in the overworld, he is also your main weapon. In battle, Arena transforms into four unique weapons:
- Greatsword: A two-handed blade that deals massive damage when it connects. It’s slow to use, so only rely on it if you are certain your hit will land.
- One-Handed Sword: A close-quarters light weapon that can be used to get up close and personal.
- Poleblade: A ranged weapon to strike from a distance for players who don’t like to get up close.
- Scythe: A mix of all the previous three weapon styles, and as such, the hardest to master.
You can seamlessly switch between these weapons during battle, so feel free to try all of them. Additionally, each of these weapons has special abilities that enhance the gameplay experience. These are further augmented through a skill tree that unlocks more options as you progress.
Finally, pulling off combos lets you deal burst damage. This mechanic, appropriately called Combo Burst, requires pressing a button at the right moment while performing a combo. It’s not easy to pull off, but once you get into the zone, it becomes easier.
Is Dodging Important in Lost Souls Aside?
While you don’t need to be a Dark Souls expert to play this game, it does require some level of parrying and dodging. However, as Lost Soul Aside is more focused on bladed weapon combat, you won’t need to worry about avoiding enemy attacks as much as in a game like Sekiro.
