macOS Sequoia 15.5 improves security, adds parental controls, fixes a lot of issues, and more. Here’s what Apple did ahead of WWDC 2025.

macOS has long been recognized for its security and stability. The latest Sequoia 15.5 update promises quite a lot for the end-user, such as addressing long-standing security vulnerabilities, adding ease-of-use features, and more. Here’s what you need to know.
macOS Sequoia 15.5 Features

The most significant improvement in this update is the introduction of Screen Time passcode notifications, which alert parents when children attempt to bypass time restrictions on their devices. This is helpful in multiple ways, as it addresses many issues related to digital wellness, particularly for children in today’s modern age.
The mail application has received updates. Users can now access the “All Mail” button directly from the sidebar, which eliminates the need to navigate through multiple menus. To simplify things further, Apple has improved contact photo management by moving the toggle to a three-dot menu. Doing so makes email organization less cumbersome and more attractive to look at.
Other Notable Fixes and Enhancements
- DHCPv6 support with the Fully Qualified Domain Name option.
- The Location Services pane now appears correctly during setup.
- Fixed Macs updating from macOS 15.4 with Platform SSO configured could become stuck in recovery mode until FileVault was disabled.
- Fixed Control Center alerts about screen-sharing apps.
- Platform SSO keys now work as intended.
- The Apple Filing Protocol (AFP) client is deprecated.
- Additional bug fixes and performance improvements.
Going Forward: What’s Next
With WWDC just around the corner, Apple ensured that every Mac is rock-stable and secure, delivering these updates so that when macOS 16 debuts, everyone can adopt it without hesitation. That said, this update prioritized security and reliability, especially for families, enterprise environments, and power users, and I hope that this continues even with macOS 16.
