Playbooks are an integral part of the Madden NFL experience. The offensive and defensive playbooks of your team will determine their formations and their reactions to the different situations that arise during a game. So, the playbook in effect will decide how and which player will run with the ball. Similarly, the playbook decides how you’re going to fend off the opposing team’s offensive maneuvers.

When you start a match in Quick Play, Ultimate Team, or Franchise Mode, the game automatically assigns a playbook to your team. However, you can change this to reflect a playbook that you’re more comfortable with. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can change playbooks in Madden NFL 26 for all of these modes.

In Madden Ultimate Team, changing a team’s playbook is slightly more complicated than in the other modes. Before you can pick the playbooks you want for your team, you’ll first have to unlock them in this mode. Otherwise, your team will have the offensive and defensive playbooks of your favorite team that you choose when you first boot up the game.

For additional playbook options, you can look for the card by opening packs. Or, you can spend some of your accumulated MUT coins at the Auction House to unlock the specific playbooks you desire.

Once you have the desired playbooks, follow the steps below to select them.

  • Step 1: From the MUT main menu, go to My Team followed by Lineup.
  • Step 2: Choose the Playbooks and Visuals tab.
  • Step 3: On the next screen, you will find Offense and Playbook 2 options. The latter refers to your defensive playbook.
  • Step 4: Select any one of the options and pick the card you want to set as the team’s playbook in that regard.
