Mage Arena has a ton of spells for you to use, and the way to use them is pretty peculiar as well. You first have to pull out a spellbook, then turn to the page of the spell you wish to cast, and shout the spell name out. The whole system is intuitive and absolutely hilarious, but not so much if you don’t have your spellbook in hand.

There are instances in Mage Arena where you lose your spellbook, and you may be tempted to die and give up for a while. But if your team has lost the flag, this would mean no respawn, and you could lose the game. In such a case, your best bet is to use the Torn Pages.

Torn Pages are, well, torn pages from spellbooks. These pages are items you can pick up off the ground and use to cast spells. They’re a worst-case-scenario type of item and must only be used in instances where you can’t access your spellbook. As stated earlier, Torn Pages are pages from spellbooks that you can pick up off the ground. You can also acquire these pages by trading items with the Gnome NPCs. Once you have the page, you can use it by following the steps below:

  • Equip the Torn Page item from your inventory. If you have multiple, select the one you wish to use.
  • Make note of the spell you’re using, and pronounce its name right into your microphone.
  • Depending on the type of spell it is, you may have to use your mouse to aim.

Each page contains only a single spell, which means that you can only use the spell on that page. This means that the Torn Pages are only suitable for specific situations and can never fully replace an actual spellbook.
