Marvel Rivals may not introduce these five characters ever because of how canonically overpowered they are.
Marvel Rivals already has plenty of overpowered characters in the game already. However, there are certain characters in the Marvel universe who are too powerful to be even put into the game in the first place. The game’s mechanics, being a 6v6 hero shooter, wouldn’t be able to fathom their powers.
Since the multiverse is canon in all of Marvel, different characters can be OP in their own universes. It wouldn’t be possible to list each of these characters. So, we created a list of the ones that we couldn’t see being put in the game.
Note that the list contains the writer’s subjective views and is not ranked in any manner. We are also not predicting the game’s future because the developers can be creative and include any of these characters in any of the upcoming updates.
The names that we have picked for the list thus far are:
- Galactus
- Living Tribunal
- Knull
- Dormammu
- Mephisto
We have our reasons for putting these names here. If you are interested in finding out what those reasons are, you can continue reading them below.
1. Galactus
Those who are only familiar with Marvel through the latest NetEase Games must have heard of Galacta. She is the announcer during all your matches in the game and is potentially playing a big role in the game’s background lore. Galactus is her father. Every universe has its own Galactus. He has an appetite for galaxies and usually works alone.
Although his daughter is benevolent, Galactus only cares for his hunger. He appoints several Heralds to scout for healthy planets and signal him upon finding one. He then devours the entire planet and the lifeforms within them.
Several characters have stood against him in the past and even won. However, with the roster that we currently have, it is nearly impossible to imagine Galactus also joining.
2. Living Tribunal
The Living Tribunal is a cosmic entity in the Marvel Universe that has existed as long as a particular universe. Don’t fool yourself though. He also exists outside said universe and has the power to create or destroy one too. The celestial being creates different versions of himself to help out the universe. He has some incredible powers that make him an all-powerful being. However, there have been instances of his death. But when we look at him from NetEase’s perspective, his powers may be too overpowered for Marvel Rivals.

3. Knull
A being that predates even the creation of light in the multiverse is automatically too overpowered to be put in Marvel Rivals. He waged war against other cosmic beings using his Necrosword and even decapitated a celestial being. You can’t tell me that Knull will be a “fun” addition to the game because he can literally obliterate lobbies with that much power. Sure, the game might nerf him, but where’s the fun in that?
4. Dormammu
The caretaker of the dark dimension is not often seen in a good light in the Marvel universe. For all good reasons, of course. Dormammu is a villain who has troubled Doctor Strange on various occasions. It would be cool to see him in Marvel Rivals, but unfortunately, that may not be possible. He is too overpowered for a hero shooter and we won’t be able to “bargain” with him like the MCU Dr. Strange.
5. Mephisto
Mephisto is Marvel’s version of ‘The Devil.’ He may not have a religious story behind him but he surely has got his tactics. Mephisto makes deals with other “lesser” beings. He offers them their desires in exchange for their souls. When they realize what he has demanded, it is already too late. He has encountered the Sorcerer Supreme and even the Scarlet Witch many times in the past. Every time, Mephisto is a difficult foe to deal with.
All the names on the list we mentioned above may be too overpowered as heroes on the roster. However, it would be fun if they could become the highlight of a season or appear in Seasonal Events as guest villains. This way, we don’t have to fight them directly, just put an end to their plans through classic hero shooting.
