Sneasler made the Top 16 at the 2025 Pokemon World Championships as part of Masayoshi Kuroo’s team. His team, which also included Ditto as a rather irregular pick, was built to get the most out of Sneasler. So, in this article, we will look at the best way to use this Pokemon in VGC based on the build used by Masayoshi Kuroo.

What Is the Build of Masayoshi Kuroo’s Sneasler?

Sneasler is a fast Pokemon with a Speed stat of 120 and hits quite hard thanks to its 130 Attack stat. Masayoshi decided to ensure that his Sneasler would outspeed most other mons by using the ability Unburden over Poison Touch. Unburden gives a one-time boost to a Pokemon’s speed if it consumes the item it’s holding.

The consumable item that Masayoshi chose for this purpose was the Electric Seed. Activated by Electric Terrain (which can be easily set up by Miraidon), Electric Seed gives its holder a one-time boost to its defense. So this activates Unburden’s speed boost and props up Sneasler’s relatively low bulk at the same time. Keep in mind, if Sneasler switches out after these boosts are activated, they are lost. So Sneasler is best used as an early attacker alongside Miraidon.

Finally, Masayoshi chose to have the option of Terastallizing his Sneasler into a Dark-type. This would turn its 4x weakness to Psychic (Sneasler is a Fighting/Poison type) into an immunity.

Moves Used by Masayoshi Kuroo’s Sneasler

Masayoshi gave his Sneasler Low Kick and Dire Claw as Fighting and Poison STAB respectively. Low Kick is useful in a meta with Restricted Legendaries that have high body weight, as the move deals more damage to them. Dire Claw is Sneasler’s signature move that has a 50% chance to either put its target to sleep, poison it, or leave it paralyzed. As for its third move, he went with Throat Chop. Not only does this handle Psychic types, but it also gives it a STAB if it Terastallizes into a Dark-type. Finally, he gave it Protect to stall for a turn.

Which Pokemon is Sneasler Good Against?

Sneasler’s Low Kick deals super effective damage to Zamazenta Crowned. However, it’s also a great neutral move into Pokemon like Raging Bolt, Groudon, and Calyrex Ice Rider. Meanwhile, Dire Claw hits a wide variety of Pokemon like Whimsicott, Brute Bonnet, Grimmsnarl, Clefairy, and Rillaboom for super effective damage.

Common Partners for Sneasler

  • Miraidon: Miraidon is a necessary partner for Sneasler to activate its held Electric Seed. In return, Sneasler deals with the Grass and Fairy-types that Miraidon struggles with.

  • Fake Out users: Pokemon like Incineroar or Iron Hands provide valuable support to Sneasler by preventing at least one of the opponent’s Pokemon from attacking for a turn.
