Let us discover how you can enhance your gameplay experience in Megabonk through mods. Learn how to get rid of the mods as well.

The mod community has been quite busy with Megabonk recently. Mods can bring a lot of changes to the already fun-to-play game. The file sizes of these mods are usually below 20Kb. Additionally, they range from introducing custom characters to enabling additional keybinds. Some mods will merely add HUDs for displaying additional information, while others may bring significant changes to the gameplay.
There are many mods to choose from, and in this article, we are listing five such mods that will enhance your gaming experience in Megabonk.

Best Mods in Megabonk
Shrine Counter

As you shoot and survive in the random map of Megabonk, you will come across shrines, i.e., interactable objects on the map. There are different types of shrines in the game, each providing a different outcome. The Shrine Counter mod introduces a simple UI displaying the number of remaining shrines on the current stage.
This mod is simple yet effective, showing you an important piece of information that is not shown in the game by default. Keep in mind that you need to have BepInEx installed to add this mod.
Always Show Boss Arrow

This mod is self-descriptive. A red arrow on the minimap will always point toward the Boss in the stage from the beginning. Hence, you will always have an idea of the direction the boss is in, letting you avoid or take the fight at your own pace.
Shrine Hunt

This mod will increase the rewards you reap from shrines if you can reach them within a limited time.
A random shrine that is quite far from you will be marked. It will have a yellow minimap icon, directional arrow, and an exclamation mark above it, slightly bigger in size.
Reaching a marked shrine and receiving double rewards will initiate another shrine at a similar distance. However, keep an eye on the timer and clear swarms effectively along the way as you chase shrines.
Slow Stage Timer

This is another mod with its function etched into the name. Slow Stage Timer makes the game timer go slower than intended. This will prevent you from getting overwhelmed by the spawn of a new swarm of enemies and give you more time to take shrines and prepare yourself.
Slow Stage Timer and Shrine Hunt make a wonderful mod duo.
Simple Sprint Key

This is a simple mod but has a massive effect on the gaming experience. Simple Sprint Key adds a basic “sprint” bind, i.e., apply a multiplier to your character’s speed for a short time (which can also be lengthened by boosting the “Duration” stat).
After using a sprint, there is a short cooldown before you can use this again.
The following are the keybinds for sprint:
- Left Shift on the keyboard.
- L3 / Square on a PlayStation controller
- Left Stick Button / X on an Xbox controller.
OmegaBonk

Finishing off the list with the heaviest and the most feature-heavy mod: OmegaBonk. This mod brings forth a number of additions to the game. These are as follows:
- Increased weapon and tome slots (purchaseable via the in-game shop). Increased refreshes, skips, and banishes (purchaseable via in-game shop).
- Larger minimap with a boss spawner arrow.
- Camera zooming via the mouse wheel.
- Field of view (FoV) is scaled based on camera distance (e.g., 0 camera distance at the default FoV and max. camera distance means +10 FoV).
- Custom Steam Rich Presence status.
- Enemy stats based on additional weapon & tome slots.

How To Use Mods, Get Rid of Them, and a Word of Caution

To install the mods, you’ll require a mod manager like MelonLoader or BepInEx. You can have only one mod manager added to Megabonk at a time. In accordance with the mod manager you are using, you must extract the .dll mod file and paste it into the folder as instructed on the mod download page.
Keep in mind, using mods and having your Hide Leaderboard option in the settings set to on will result in you landing on the naughty leaderboard, i.e., the leaderboard for cheaters. So, turn it off before you introduce mods into your game.
To get rid of all mods, take the following steps:
- Locate Megabonk on your Steam Library.
- Right-click on it, go to Manage, and then click Browse Local Files.
- Once you are in the file explorer, click Up and reach the common folder.
- Delete Megabonk.
- Finally, return to your Steam Library and uninstall Megabonk.
Megabonk mods are brought by the community and the main developer of the game. There is always a chance of mods corrupting your game files. So, keep this in mind before indulging in the world of mods.
