If you’ve played the 2002 original, you won’t be surprised to know that there’s an easter egg involving Guy Savage in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater. The PlayStation 2 original also had a similar sequence for players to unlock and enjoy. However, Konami has completely revamped the Guy Savage level in the new rendition, giving something new to even returning players.

If you are new, you might not have a clue how to unlock this secret easter egg. The game doesn’t really give you any instructions either. So, the following guide should help you dive into this interesting easter egg section.

The unlock process for the easter egg is identical to how you did in in the original Snake Eater. Here’s the complete procedure you’ll need to follow:

  • Step 1: Make sure you reach far enough in the game to end up in the Groznyj Grad prison cell.
  • Step 2: Wait until Colonel Volgin tortures you, can then leave the cell.
  • Step 3: Now, open your radio and select Save. Doing so will lead Snake to call Para-Medic to save the game. During this process. Pra-Medic and Snake will have a conversation about Renfield and Dracula.
  • Step 4: You can now check this save file, and notice a red bar flowing through it. This signals that the Guy Savage easter egg is now available. All you need to do is load this save file from the pause menu or from the game’s main menu.

Loading in will immediately trigger the Guy Savage minigame.

How To Play the Guy Savage Minigame

Loading the specific save game will launch the Guy Savage minigame. Here, you play as a dual blade-wielding Guy Savage in a dark and eerie world infested with all manner of monsters. While in the original 2002 version, the level was set inside a warehouse, the remake takes things a bit further. Now, you’ll face off against the monsters inside a hellish graveyard.

You will have to keep beating waves of monsters, with each progressive wave consisting of even tougher enemies. However, soon, Snake will wake up from his slumber inside the prison cell. The game explains the minigame sequence as a nightmare that our protagonist is experiencing.

After completing the entire base game, you will find an option to launch the Guy Savage level from the main menu. This time around, you can complete the entire level without any time restrictions. It also comes with new cutscenes and content that wasn’t present in the original Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater.
