Click here to find out which Monster Hunter monsters can fit right into the Pokemon universe to make it even more engaging.

The Monster Hunter universe has a completely different art style compared to Pokemon. Even though both franchises essentially revolve around monsters, they still have pretty different approaches to these “monsters.” The beasts in each franchise are drastically different. The primary difference that you can observe is that the MHU has a much more intense approach to the creatures compared to Pokemon, which observes the beasts in a much lighter tone. So, fitting in some monsters from the Monster Hunter franchise can be a bit tedious, but it’s not impossible.
NOTE: The list contains the writer’s opinions and is not ranked in any manner.
All Monster Hunter Monsters in the Pokemon Universe
Pokemon is a portmanteau of the Japanese phrase “Poketto Monsutā.” When translated into English, this phrase means “pocket monster.” So, all Pokemon in the franchise are quite literally monsters that you can carry around in your pockets using “Pokeballs.” These beasts have replaced real-world animals and even look just as cuddly as most of them. So, most Monster Hunter creatures won’t fit right into the Pokemon universe, but we have tried our best to include the ones that will. The names are as follows:
- Palico
- Palamute
- Wulg
- Genprey
- Izuchi
For the best experience, try imagining each of them in the same cartoonish art style that Pokemon follows. Moreover, if you want to read up on why we have included each entry on this list, keep scrolling below.
1. Palico

If you are a cat person in the Pokemon universe, you surely have some interesting choices to pick from. But we think it can’t get better than having a Palico by your side. These adorable feline creatures from the Monster Hunter universe are sentient beings who have a playful demeanor almost all the time. They walk on two legs, which makes them even more adorable.
To top it all off, they are extremely useful to the Hunter in MH and will be just as useful to any Pokemon trainer. Palico can attack their enemies, heal allies, gather resources, immobilize attacking enemies, and even buff allies.
2. Palamute

Enough about cat people—what if you are a dog person instead? Well, we have got you covered once again. The MHU is home to some “good boys” and “good girls” called Palamutes. These are sentient, canine-like species in the franchise that are utterly useful to the Hunter. Unlike the feline Palico, Palamutes are not bipedal, but they bring characteristics similar to those of dogs, such as loyalty and intelligence, to the table.
What’s better is that you can ride them to a location that seems far on the map and save yourself some time! Given their loyalty, they will also assist you in battle by defending you and attacking enemies.

3. Wulg

Unfortunately, the list gets slightly intense from here on. However, we suggest that you stick to your imagination and keep observing the rest of the creatures on the list through the same adorable Pokemon lens. Coming back to our third entry: the Wulg. Any Wulg that you encounter in the wild will appear to be a wolf-like creature. They are primarily known for their speed, agility, pack tactics, and sharp teeth and claws, which inflict damage on their enemies.
I think they would make for good Dark/Ghost-type Pokemon based on their appearance. Although they might not be as good of a canine companion as a Palamute, they are still worth collecting and keeping in your Pokeball for whenever help is required.
4. Genprey

Have you ever wondered what a raptor as a Pokemon would look like? Genprey is the answer to your question, then. These creatures appear as prehistoric as any small creature could look in the Monster Hunter franchise. We can’t call them purely reptilian, but we can’t consider them avians either. This makes them the perfect entry for a monster that represents features similar to dinosaurs. They have slender bodies and sharp talons that inflict damage on their enemies. They are pretty aggressive and also hunt in packs.
So, if a Pokemon trainer encounters more than one of these creatures in the wild, they would have to isolate one Genprey before making a move to capture it.
5. Izuchi

If you were a fan of the raptor design, you would be intrigued by Izuchi as well. They look pretty similar to Genprey, except for the fact that they are kind of an upgraded version of them. An Izuchi looks much more stunning with brown and white fur on its body and comparatively fewer scales than a Genprey. They are typically found in a herd with the Great Izuchi leading them.
Once more, they are pretty aggressive out in the wild. Almost all Izuchi will defend their leader when attacked by a Hunter. So, once again, capturing these majestic-looking beasts won’t be an easy task in the Pokemon universe.
