In the Forbidden Lands, there flies a devastating beast known as Gravios. Introduced in the first Monster Hunter game, this monster is one of the iconic ones that veterans love and beginners hate. Gravios is a flying wyvern who uses the fire element to burn anyone who wants to pick a fight. For those who are unable to extinguish his fire, we have created this wonderful guide.

Let’s discuss how to beat Gravios.

Gravios Overview

Gravios is a large monster in Monster Hunter Wilds. This flying wyvern uses his wings for aerial movement and spits fire to deal elemental damage. Like most flying monsters, wings are his strength and weakness when it comes to hunting. Additionally, Gravios can use poison attacks but is immune to fire damage.

Gravios is unlocked after completing Chapter 3 in Monster Hunter Wilds. Players need to complete the Monster Hunter mission by slaying the one and only Zoh Shia. It is the final boss in the low rank. Moreover, players can unlock the high rank after defeating this boss and completing other objectives. After Chapter 3, Gravios can be found wandering in some areas of Forbidden Lands.

Where To Find Gravios?

Players can find this wyvern flying around the areas of Oilwell Basin and Ruins of Wyveria after completing Chapter 3. However, the ruins are unlocked after reaching the high rank, so we suggest you read our high rank guide in case the area is locked. Gravios has only one possible turf war with Tempered Arkveld.

Gravios Weakness

Every flying wyvern has a major weakness— their wings. Gravios has quite strong wings, but they can be broken when enough damage is done. Elements like water, ice, and dragon are the best when used against him. Try avoiding his neck, tail, wings, and legs, as that is where he’s tough. Here’s the list of all ailments Gravios is weak against:

This monster has some weak points, such as its belly, head, and back, so target these parts for the best damage output. Try delivering focus strikes at these parts to weaken him more. Any ice or water element attack can do wonders when these attacks hit his weak points. Players might have trouble reaching the head, so we recommend focusing on the belly to weaken Gravios.

Best Weapons for Gravios in Monster Hunter Wilds

Any weapon with slashing, bludgeoning, and piercing-type damage can work fine against Gravios. Choose whatever suits your playstyle, but make sure not to use fire-type attacks because he is immune to them.

The first step is to use Flash Pods to stun the flying wyvern and start hitting its belly and back. Gravios has heavy armor, but persistent strikes can pierce through it eventually. Use elements like water, ice, and dragon to deal bonus damage. Gravios can use Strong Roar which can be countered by using Earplugs. Moreover, he can immobilize you with a Minor Tremor, which can be countered by increasing Tremor Resistance.

However, his main attacks consist of fire and poison damage. Gravios can inflict fireblight and poison that can be countered with the help of Nulberry and Antidote, respectively. Stock up on Energy Drinks in case of sleep attacks. Keep hitting his belly and back with focused strikes and elemental attacks. Eventually you’ll be able to hunt this monster in a very wild style.

Tips for Beating Gravios

  • Unlike Rathalos, this monster has strong wings, so try to avoid them and use Flash Pods to bring him down.
  • Do not use fire attacks because Gravios is immune to them.
