Samin’s Research Report (Cont.) quest in Monster Hunter Wilds requires you to capture a Rime Beetle, and here is how to do it.

Samin and Dareel’s side quests are a great way to explore the Endemic Lives of Monster Hunter Wilds. They ask you to capture small creatures for their research. During Samin’s Research Report (Cont.) side quest, Samin assigns you to capture a Rime Beetle.
These quests allow you to explore every region and capture Endemic Lives at extreme temperatures. For example, in the previous quest, you were sent to a hot region to capture an Ember Rufflizard. Now, you need to head to a cold region to locate the Rime Beetle. Follow this guide to learn the location of Rime Beetles and how to capture them in Monster Hunter Wilds.
Where To Find Rime Beetle in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Rime Beetle prefers cold temperatures and can withstand extreme cold better than most insects, making them exclusive to Iceshard Cliffs. You can find these Rime Beetles in deep snow regions of Iceshard Cliffs, where they often roll snowballs to their nests. They can be difficult to spot as they typically hide under deep snow. If you follow the hollow path and track their snowballs, you can spot a Rime Beetle.
They are usually found in areas 2, 7, 11, and 13 of Iceshard Cliffs. You can also use the filter option on the mini-map to pinpoint their exact location. Set a waypoint to Rime Beetle, and your Seikret will automatically take you to its location.

How To Capture Rime Beetle in Monster Hunter Wilds

Once you spot a Rime Beetle, approach them closely, but don’t interact with them, as it won’t count toward quest progression. If you interact with them or use the Slinger, they will drop Frostburst ammo, which can be used for ice-based attacks.
Equip your Capture Net from the radial menu or item bar and shoot it toward them when the aim turns yellow. That’s it; you have successfully captured the Rime Beetle. Report to Samin at Windward Plains to complete the quest and receive the rewards—5 Honey, 10 Mandragora, and 100 Guild Points.
