Your Palico is an essential part of your journey in Monster Hunter Wilds. They will help you hunt down challenging monsters and provide further context to the story through some fun banter. However, your interactions with your furry friend don’t just end there. You can also choose to alter your Palico’s language and voice in the game. In this guide, we’ll explain how you can attempt to do both with easy-to-follow steps.

The game’s character creation screen allows you to create both the player character and their Palico companion. So, you can choose the language preference for the Felyne from this screen right away. If you choose to toggle on the Felyne Language option, your Palico will use its cat-like expressions and sounds to communicate with you throughout the game. If you toggle this option off, the Palico will use whatever language you have set for the game to express themselves.

However, if you are unhappy with the choice you made during the Palico creation screen, you can also alter the voice later on. Here are some of the steps to follow:

  • Step 1: Open the game’s option menu.
  • Step 2: Go over to the Audio tab
  • Step 3: At the very bottom of the screen under the Audio tab, you’ll find the option to switch to the Palico language.

There’s another way to change their language setting after character creation is complete. This requires you to access a camp.

  • Step 1: Visit any of the game’s camps and go inside your tent.
  • Step 2: Pick the Change Appearance option here.
  • Step 3: From here, choose the Palico appearance menu and you will find the option to change the Felyne Language once more.

After switching, the effects will be immediate, and you’ll notice the change in language in your Felyne companion. The game also allows you to name your Palico. Read our list of the 100 funniest names for your Felyne friend.

You can choose what your Palico sounds like from the character creation menu when starting a new game. However, voice options are only applicable if you toggle the Felyne Language setting off. The game offers two voice options, with one sounding feminine and the other masculine.

Also, similar to modifying the language for your Palico, you can change their voice and pitch from your tent in any camp of the game. Simply follow the same steps mentioned above and change the voice to the one you prefer. There are 10 different pitch settings that you can choose from to ensure your Palico sounds just how you want them to.

Lastly, if you have purchased Palico Edit Vouchers, you can spend these to edit Felyne’s voice from the save data select screen. However, keep in mind that the vouchers are one-time-use items, and each voucher costs $2.99.
