Everything you need to know about Savage Omega Planetes in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its weaknesses and how to defeat it.

Omega Planetes is arguably the toughest challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds, thus far, even surpassing the likes of Tempered Seregios, Tempered Lagiacrus, and Tempered Gore Magala. Although the standard version of the monster is already a force to be reckoned with, even for veteran Hunters, there’s an even more powerful variant of Omega, offering the ultimate challenge – Savage Omega Planetes.
It’s essentially the Tempered variant of Omega Planetes, with a few new combos under its belt. However, what makes the Savage variant of Omega Planetes stand out amongst other Tempered Monsters is its sheer aggression and ferocity. Savage Omega is arguably one of the fastest monsters in MHW’s roster. At the same time, it’s also incredibly tanky, which makes the battle even more challenging.
Thankfully, there are ways to make the battle against Savage Omega easier. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to defeat Savage Omega Planetes in Monster Hunter Wilds.

How To Unlock Savage Omega Planetes in Monster Hunter Wilds

To unlock the quest for Savage Omega Planetes, you need to first defeat the regular variant of the monster. Essentially, you need to complete the quests – The Artifact’s Words and A Peak Predicament. Both these quests unlock after you’ve reached Hunter Rank (HR) 41, i.e., completed the High Rank main story. Furthermore, you also need to defeat the High Rank Zoh Shia before accepting the quest for Omega.
As for Savage Omega Planetes’ quest, Planetes Protocol (Savage), you need to have reached Hunter Rank (HR) 100. Much like in the case of Omega Planetes, you want to tackle the Savage variant only if you’re prepared with an endgame-ready build. Additionally, for Great Sword users, it’s best to grind the regular Omega for the Shadowbringer GS.
The Shadowbringer and its ability Darktide, paired with the Bale set’s Blackest Night (4 piece) and Dark Arts (2 piece) skills, make quick work of Omega Planetes. It should be noted that Blackest Night can also be used with other weapon types.
Overview of Savage Omega Planetes

Savage Omega Planetes is basically identical to its regular variant in almost all respects. The only major difference is the amount of HP the monster starts with, as well as higher resistance to wounds. It still shares the same Temnoceran skeleton, alongside the ability to bombard the Hunters with a barrage of AOE attacks. However, Savage Omega does get one new attack, which can be quite lethal.
At the start of the fight, Omega scans Jin Dahaad to transform into the Savage variant. In doing so, it gets one of Jin Dahaad’s most powerful skills, the Frost AOE, which freezes Hunters in place for a small duration. Omega can use this ability throughout the battle, and often follows it up with a Delta Beam or a charged dash, both of which can easily one-shot Hunters.
In addition to that, in its Savage form, Omega starts the battle in the Pantokrator Mode. Furthermore, it also has access to the MRV Missiles right from the very start of the battle, which is where the real challenge of the Savage variant comes from.

Weaknesses of Savage Omega Planetes

Savage Omega Planetes has the same weaknesses as the regular variant. The monster is mostly weak to Thunderblight and Dragonblight. As for status ailments, the best options are Paralysis and Blast. However, if you’re not using Elemental weapons, your best option is to invest in physical damage instead of statuses. You can also Exhaust Omega if you’re using Hammer or Hunting Horn.
As for the monster’s weak points, those are the same as the regular Omega Planetes – Head, Legs, and Back. Do note that in order to reach Omega’s back (and break it), you first need to break its legs, which topples the monster. You can also break Omega’s back with mounted attacks or falling debris. That said, here’s a rundown of the weaknesses of Omega Planetes:

Tips To Defeat Savage Omega Planetes in Monster Hunter Wilds

For the most part, the battle against Savage Omega Planetes is identical to its regular variant. As such, for a detailed look at regular Omega Planetes, you can check out our dedicated guide for the monster. For the Savage variant, there are a few additional things (counters for the Frost AOE, etc.) that you need to be aware of. Other than that, the battle follows the same principles as regular Omega Planetes.
Here are some tips that will help you defeat Savage Omega Planetes:
- Since Savage Omega starts the battle in its Pantokrator Mode, your primary objective for Phases 1 and 2 would be to break the monster’s legs as quickly as possible. It is possible to shatter one of the hind legs right at the start of the battle. However, you can easily get through the first phase by simply inflicting wounds.
- Skills like Agitator, Maximum Might, and even Resentment help a lot, especially if you’re relying on physical damage type. For the second phase, remember that you can use the Thunder Pods littered across the arena to interrupt most of Omega’s attacks (including the Delta Beam).
- Ideally, you want to stay close to Omega’s hind limbs, which take bonus damage from Slash attacks. However, if you see Omega charging its Delta Beam or MRV Missiles, you should get away from the monster. Make sure to use the Shields to avoid most of the projectiles.
- Note that the Shields will only help against projectiles, and not the dash or stomp attacks.
- For the third phase, when Omega summons the Nerscylla, you want to use the Morbols and Cactuars to lock the Temnoceran in place. The Nerscylla is one of the toughest parts of the Savage Omega fight. It’s essentially a DPS check, and can be dealt with rather easily if you make good use of Morbol’s paralysing AOE.
- Remember, you can also simply run away from the arena (using a Farcaster) if you cannot defeat the Nerscylla before Omega finishes charging the Delta Beam.
- The final phase, surprisingly, is quite easy. It’s essentially identical to Omega’s first phase, albeit with more frequent MRV Missiles. Make sure to use Pictomancy and mounting abilities, and Omega should go down quite easily.
Additional Notes
Before you head to the Savage Omega battle, we highly recommend grabbing one of the Mega Food Buffs. Ideally, you want to get the Kunafa or Azuz Food Buffs, as it grants extra carves, but Sild and Suja Food Buffs are also perfectly fine. We need these Food Buffs simply for the Insurance Meal effect, which grants you an additional cart, in case you die to Omega’s attacks.
