Armor Spheres are pretty useful in Monster Hunter Wilds if you play like a tank and have a knack for taking a lot of damage from enemy hits. Even if that’s not your usual playstyle and you still choose gear for certain skills at the cost of defense stats, the spheres will cover for you. Since they are so versatile, let’s learn how to obtain them and make use of them while hunting fierce monsters.
All armor pieces in the game can be reinforced using the Armor Spheres. This will help boost defense stats for that additional protection. However, the game doesn’t readily give you Armor Spheres from the start. You have to earn your way to them.
The most common method of getting Armor Spheres is by completing a quest. Once finished, the quest will give you hunt rewards that include Armor Spheres at times. You can also obtain them by Trading with Gawdygog using Wyvern Coins or by Smelting at the Everforge once it is unlocked.
In the beginning, you will get the lowest level of spheres, which will eventually increase in tiers, offering more points towards an armor’s upgrade level. These go as follows:
- Armor Sphere: 10 points
- Armor Sphere+: 25 points
- Advanced Armor Sphere: 200 points
- Hard Armor Sphere: 1000 points
- Heavy Armor Sphere: 5000 points
Getting Armor Spheres as quest rewards and trade items is simple. Smelting, however, can be slightly complex in the beginning. Let’s see how you can do it at the Everforge.

Smelting Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds
The smelting area in Azuz, the Everforge, will unlock only after you have fought the Black Flame between Chapter 2-4. Once the area is unlocked, you are free to smelt the Armor Spheres. The Oilwell Basin base camp is the nearest fast travel point to this foundry. The following steps will let you smelt Amor Spheres:
- Head to the forge and speak to Roqul there
- Go to the Smelt Armor Spheres menu
- Select the Armor Sphere available
- Use spare monster parts until you have enough points to smelt

Using Armor Spheres in Monster Hunter Wilds
Upon gaining possession of Armor Spheres, you must speak to Gemma. Head straight to the Forge/Upgrade Armour menu. The next thing you would want to do is select an already-crafted piece of gear and hit Upgrade. A new menu should pop up, showing all the accessible Armor Spheres that you have. The current level of your selected gear and the points needed to reach the next level will also appear.
If the armor is of higher rarity, you will require more points to level up. Note that armor pieces can be reinforced as much as up to 13 levels. However, the number of reinforcement levels keeps dropping as you obtain better gear. As you would expect, you will also need more money to level up the higher rarity gear. Once the level cap hits an armor piece, you can’t stack more armor spheres on it.
