Monster Hunter Wilds is all heated up with the Flamefete Festival ongoing. Apart from the seasonal skins for Gemma, Alma, and Erik, you can get an exclusive Gunlance during this event. The Festival of Accord: Flamefete will run from July 22, 2025, till August 5, 2025, and you corn-er the monsters with the Cornpopper Gunlance.
You will have to complete a specific Event Quest to unlock the Cornpopper Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds. This unique weapon looks like one giant corn, and also has a unique skill – Crackling Cornpopper. When overheated, the corn appears burnt and deals more shelling damage! How to Unlock Cornpopper Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds?
You will have to complete the Event Quest Putting Up a Stink to unlock the Cornpopper Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds. You will need to hunt a Tempered Congalala and a Tempered Rathian to complete this quest.
Here are the steps to complete the Event Quest and unlock the Cornpopper Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds:
- Talk to Alma or head to the Quest Counter in the Grand Hub and talk to Lotta.
- Select Post/Join a Quest.
- Select the Event Quests option.
- Select the quest called Putting Up a Stink, featuring a Tempered Congalala and a Tempered Rathian.
- Start this quest immediately or prepare and then depart for battle.
You will need to be at least Hunter Rank 21 to be able to take part in this Event Quest. If you are at a lower level, consider doing some more hunts and raising your Hunter Rank before tackling this one.

- Difficulty: 5-star difficulty for both the monsters combined.
- Monster strength: Tempered Congalala is 4-diamond strength, while Tempered Rathian is 3-diamond strength.
- Area: Scarlet Forest
- Weather: Inclemency weather Downpour will remain active. Uth Duna variants spawn during this quest, although your fighting areas are nowhere near the Apex monster’s habitat.
- Total time limit: 50 minutes.
- Failure criteria: 3 faints.
Although both monsters appear in their Tempered variants, their overall strength is on the lower side, and you can beat them easily within the time limit, even as a solo player.

Once you complete the Putting Up a Stink Event Quest, you will unlock the special Workshop Tree to forge the Cornpopper Gunlance in Monster Hunter Wilds. Follow these steps to easily craft this weapon:
- Head to the Gemma at the Smithy and interact with her.
- Select the Forge/Upgrade Weapon option.
- Next, select the Gunlance option.
- Scroll down and you should find the Workshop Tree.
- Use the required materials to craft the Cornpopper Gunlance.
