In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Tough Guardian Bone is an essential item for upgrading your weapons and armor to keep up with the difficulty curve after every Hunter Rank increase. Additionally, crafting horn weapons, specifically a Bone Horn III, will require you to find a Tough Guardian Bone. You can find it through foraging and quests.

Where To Find Tough Guardian Bone
To find Tough Guardian Bones, you must progress through the story quests until you reach the Ruins of Wyveria. It is the fifth major biome you’ll explore in the later parts of the story.
Once you enter the Ruins of Wyveria, open the map to locate Bonepiles nearby and search them to find the Tough Guardian Bone. However, it is not a guaranteed drop, and you may have to visit other Bone Piles marked on the map.
Bone Piles respawn 15 minutes after you search them. Additionally, you can use the markers available on the map to check whether you have already searched a specific Bonepile.
How To Use Tough Guardian Bone

Tough Guardian Bones are primarily used to craft or upgrade your weapon. To use them, head to Gemma in the base camp and provide her with the items you have discovered.
She will show you the weapons and armor that can be upgraded with this bone. The majority of them are Bone Horn weapons that hunters can use for their endeavors in the wilds.
Ultimately, with each upgrade, the cost and requirements increase, and you will gradually have to farm more Tough Guardian Bones to make better upgrades.
