Explore everything about Vespoid Shells in Monster Hunter Wild. Learn their locations and how to collect them.

Upgrading weapons and crafting new gear in Monster Hunter Wilds takes plenty of resources. If you’re looking into the Vespoid Tree at Gemma’s Blacksmith shop, you’ll notice you need Vespoid Shells. Whether you’re aiming for the Sonic Horn 1 or another piece of gear, getting Vespoid Shells in Monster Hunter Wilds doesn’t have to be a headache. Let’s make it simple.
What Are Vespoid Shells in Monster Hunter Wilds?
Vespoid Shells in Monster Hunter Wilds are crafting materials dropped by Vespoids, insect-like creatures that have been in Monster Hunter since the very beginning. These little bugs may seem harmless, but their paralyzing poison stingers can be a real problem if you’re not careful. They don’t hit hard, but they can stun you at the worst possible moment.
If you take them down, they can drop several items, including Vespoid Shells, Vespoid Wings, Monster Fluid, and even Honey. The Shells are what you’re after, and thankfully, there’s a reliable way to farm them.
Where To Find Vespoids

Vespoids love the Scarlet Forest, especially in Area 6 and Area 8. Open your map, and you’ll see small purple dots — these mark nearby monsters. If you highlight a Vespoid with a click of the right stick, your mount will guide you straight to it.
Once you get there, keep an eye on the trees and open spaces. Vespoids often hover in mid-air, making them a bit tricky to hit. They aren’t aggressive but will retaliate if attacked. Bring the right tools, and you’ll have no problem taking them down.

How To Get Vespoid Shells in Monster Hunter Wilds
Defeating Vespoids is just step one. You also need to carve them for materials. However, there’s a small catch — if you use a weapon that deals too much damage, they can shatter, leaving nothing to collect. Here’s what works best:
- Throwing Knives is a great way to knock them out of the air without destroying them.
- Slinger Ammo or Stones – Quick and effective, especially if you’re running low on knives.
- Weapons with Precise Hits – Light attacks from weapons like Dual Blades or Sword and Shield work well.
If farming Vespoids in the wild feels too slow, there’s another option. Low Rank Vespoid Investigation Quests in the Rotten Vale are a faster way to collect Shells. These missions focus on hunting Vespoids, giving you a much better drop rate.
No need to overthink it — just head to the right spots, bring the right gear, and start farming. Before you know it, you’ll have all the Vespoid Shells you need for your next upgrade!
