Omega Planetes is easily the biggest new addition to Monster Hunter Wilds’ roster. Not only is Omega part of one of the grandest collaboration events, but it’s also one of, if not the most challenging monsters in the entire base game. In terms of sheer difficulty and spectacle, Omega Planetes even surpasses the likes of Tempered Lagiacrus, Seregios, and Gore Magala.

However, before you can face off against the Omega, you need to prove you’re worthy of standing against it. In simpler words, before you can even unlock the hunting quest for Omega Planetes, you need to be aware of a few prerequisites.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Omega Planetes quest in Monster Hunter Wilds, and how to unlock it.

Before you unlock the quest for Omega Planetes, A Peak Predicament, you need to reach HR (Hunter Rank) 41. Essentially, you need to complete the entirety of the base High Rank campaign, which propels you to HR 41. Furthermore, you also need to complete the additional campaign quest for the High Rank Zoh Shia.

Once you reach HR 41 and complete the Zoh Shia quest, you will get a request from Rove (Iceshard Cliffs). Upon talking to Rove, you will start The Artifact’s Words quest. This quest is fairly short, but it acts as a prologue to the main event.

To complete this quest, you need to defeat an aberrant Nerscylla. However, do not mistake it for any other Nerscylla. It’s essentially a clone created by Omega Frame, which comes with a few new attacks of its own. Furthermore, it also has access to Omega Micros, which act as Nerscylla hatchlings and can deal a ton of damage.

Once you complete The Artifact’s Words, you will unlock A Peak Predicament. Do note that while A Peak Predicament is available at HR 41, we recommend taking this quest only once you’re above HR 50. Omega is a substantial step up in difficulty and requires you to be prepared with an endgame-ready build.

Once you complete the A Peak Predicament quest, you will be able to craft the Dark Knight set and the Shadowbringer Great Sword. However, if you’re looking for an even greater challenge, TU3 has you covered. There’s essentially a “tempered” version of Omega in the game that unlocks after defeating the regular variant.

The quest is available for everyone who has reached Hunter Rank (HR) 100 or above. The Omega Planetes (Savage) quest is aptly titled “Planetes Protocol” and is accessible via the Event Quests tab.
