The Arch-Tempered Rey Dau is easily one of the most challenging monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds, at least for an Event Quest. Although the Arch-Tempered variant is significantly more difficult to hunt compared to the regular Rey Dau, it’s still worth farming simply for the Rey Dau γ (gamma) armor set. Similar to how the Arch-Tempered Monsters worked in Monster Hunter World, the AT variants in Monster Hunter Wilds come with their own unique armor sets.

Not only do these armor sets offer a different look than the regular versions, but they also come with better stats. The Rey Dau γ armor set is no exception, featuring skills like Maximum Might and Latent Power.

However, considering there are other end-game armor options in the game, is it really worth crafting the Rey Dau γ set? In this guide, we will look at the Rey Dau γ armor set’s stats, skills, and whether it’s worth crafting or not.

How To Craft the Rey Dau γ Armor Set in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Rey Dau γ armor set can be crafted after hunting the Arch-Tempered Rey Dau. Although it’s technically a new armor set, separate from the regular Rey Dau sets, it can be crafted using parts obtained from hunting the normal High Rank Rey Dau. The only part that you will need from the Arch-Tempered variant is the Rey Dau γ Certificate. You essentially need to hunt AT Rey Dau a minimum of 4–5 times to get enough Certificates to craft the full set.

Additionally, you will need 60,000 Zenny to craft the entire set. That said, it should be noted that Arch-Tempered Rey Dau is available as part of a time-limited Event Quest — A Silent Flash.

The Arch-Tempered Rey Dau Event Quest will be available until May 13, 2025. Make sure to gather enough Rey Dau Certificates before the Event concludes. Unlike other monsters added to Monster Hunter Wilds with Title Update 1, AT Rey Dau will not appear in the overworld as an Investigation. It’s exclusive to the special Event Quest. Here’s a breakdown of the different armor pieces of the Rey Dau γ set and their requirements:

Is Rey Dau γ Armor Set Worth Crafting?

The Rey Dau γ is a mixed bag for an end-game armor set. While it does have some really good skills and is practically a significant upgrade over the Rey Dau α and β sets, it’s not a replacement for the existing meta — i.e., Gore Magala, Guardian Anjanath, and Guardian Arkveld sets. Save for specific builds and use cases, especially ones that use weapons like Bow, Dual Blades, and Hammer, the set isn’t all that useful.

Yes, Maximum Might and Latent Power are incredibly powerful skills to have maxed out, but they don’t work all that well without proper defensive skills — unless you’re going for a glass-cannon build. That said, there’s still a reason to craft the armor set — Layered Armor.

Much like the other end-game sets, the new Rey Dau armor comes with a unique look, which you can use as a Layered option upon crafting it.
