Everything you need to know about the new Bale set in Monster Hunter Wilds, including its skills and whether it’s worth crafting or not.

The Bale set, i.e., the Dark Knight (Job) armor set from Final Fantasy 14, is easily one of the coolest-looking sets in Monster Hunter Wilds. While Monster Hunter Wilds does have plenty of “knight-like” sets, the Bale set still stands out amongst its peers. However, the Bale set isn’t just about its looks; it’s also one of the best endgame sets you can craft in MHW, albeit for very specific playstyles.
The armor set comes courtesy of Omega Planetes, the newly added TU3 monster. And while the Bale set does offer some handy skills, it’s also a very situational armor set. Here’s everything you need to know about the Bale set in Monster Hunter Wilds, and whether it’s worth crafting or not.

Should You Craft the Bale Set (Omega Armor) in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Yes, even if you don’t choose to use the Bale set as your primary endgame gear, you can still rock it as a Layered Armor. That said, if you’re looking for a new set to use for its skills, then you might want to skip this set, unless you’re a Great Sword main. While the Bale set does have the Blackest Night skill, which any build can use, it’s not very useful outside of the Omega Planetes encounter.
As for the skills, the armor heavily relies on you using the Shadowbringer Great Sword. Skills like Resentment, Latent Power, and even Maximum Might are all geared towards the Great Sword. You can technically use the skills on Hammer and even Switch Axe builds. However, there are far better choices in the game for those weapon types.
That said, if you’re a Great Sword main, this is easily the best armor set you can craft, alongside the Shadowbringer.
Overview of the Bale Armor Set (Omega Armor)

Bale set is essentially the quintessential Great Sword armor in Monster Hunter Wilds. It’s a Rarity 8 armor, and hence comes with ample Defense. Furthermore, it’s one of the few armor sets in the game that offer incredibly high Dragonblight Resistance. That said, what makes this set special is its skills and the Soul of the Dark Knight.
In terms of raw skills, the Bale set offers Defense Boost (Level 5), Resentment (Level 5), Latent Power (Level 5), and Maximum Might (Level 3). Essentially, you’re getting the best skills for a Great Sword build. Furthermore, by pairing this set with the Shadowbringer, you’re also going to benefit a ton from Latent Power and Resentment.
As for the special skill, the Bale set comes with Soul of the Dark Knight, which grants a 20-second buff to TCS. Additionally, the Bale set also comes with the Blackest Night skill. This skill grants a massive defense buff and also increases the damage of your follow-up attacks. The best part, you can activate Blackest Night with any weapon (and build).
