Monster Hunter Wilds is all set to launch with some new hardware optimization on PS5 Pro. The global PSN outage caused massive disarray for people, where all PlayStation Hunters lost an entire day of beta testing. However, Capcom has revealed some news that will make all PS5 Pro users rejoice. On the PS5 Pro, you will be able to use the PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) feature to get better performance.
These optimizations come in two forms—one to maximize your resolution and one to maximize your framerate. In this article, we will explain whether you should prioritize resolution or prioritize framerate in Monster Hunter Wilds on the PS5 Pro.
Performance Settings on PS5 Pro for Monster Hunter Wilds Explained
There are two new performance settings to choose from if you are playing Monster Hunter Wilds on the PlayStation 5 Pro. You can prioritize resolution or prioritize framerate while playing the game using the Ray Tracing and PSSR technologies.
Both of these settings take advantage of the superior visual fidelity components of the PS5 Pro to offer either stunning visuals or a boosted framerate. A third balanced option exists as well, which is going to offer a “best-of-both-worlds” experience.
What Happens When You Prioritize Resolution?
When you prioritize resolution in PS5 Pro for Monster Hunter Wilds, you get superior graphics that take advantage of the Ray Tracing features of the console. The water bodies become super clear with stellar reflection. Every other bit of the visual experience is optimized to provide the best graphics that you can possibly get.
What Happens When You Prioritize Framerate?
Prioritizing Framerate uses the PS5 Pro’s PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) to boost your FPS (frames per second) to the maximum for Monster Hunter Wilds. In this setting, Ray Tracing features are turned off, and the resources are more directed to make the gameplay smoother. The rendering resolution for this mode is 1080p, and the PSSR technology is used to upscale the output.

Whether you should prioritize resolution or framerate for Monster Hunter Wilds on the PS5 Pro depends on you and your requirements. If you want stellar graphics and the jankiness of 30 frames per second does not bother you, then you should prioritize resolution on the PS5 Pro.
On the other hand, if you prefer smoother gameplay and ray-traced graphics are unnecessary for you, then the prioritize framerate option is best for you. In this mode, you will get a decent boost to the framerate without a very significant drop in visuals.
Finally, if you want a little bit of both of these settings, you could select the balanced mode on the PS5 Pro. We do not recommend this mode since it will only give you 10 more FPS over the prioritize resolution mode. The sacrifice to visual fidelity and the bonus performance is not good enough. As such, it is better to stick to the prioritize resolution option instead of using the balanced mode.
