1. God of War – Atreus

At the end of God of War, Kratos and Atreus finally make their way to Jotunheim to scatter Faye’s ashes. Once they arrive there, they uncover the murals made by her and realize that she knew everything that the pair would go through. They also discover the fact that Faye was a Giant, thus also making Atreus a Giant.

However, the biggest plot twist was the revelation of Atreus’ real name, Loki. This had many implications for the events of Ragnarok, which eventually took place in the sequel.

2. Life is Strange – Mark Jefferson

Life is Strange has Max and Chloe find out more about Rachel Amber and her murder. Over the course of four episodes, they eventually deduce that Nathan Prescott killed Rachel Amber, and they even discover her body. However, Nathan Prescott was simply an accomplice in the murder, and not the mastermind behind it all.

The mastermind was the charming teacher, Mark Jefferson. Nobody could’ve expected it to be him, as he hid his tracks so well. However, flashbacks to the first-ever interaction with him heavily imply that Mark was always untrustworthy, making the plot twist one of the best in gaming.

3. Red Dead Redemption 2 – Micah

As Dutch slowly becomes more and more unhinged throughout the story, the gang faces a mole problem. Dutch suspected everyone but Micah, as he spent months reassuring Dutch about himself and his leadership. However, eventually, it turns out that Micah was the mole all along, who kept leaking information to the Pinkertons. Unfortunately, his deception is discovered too late, and the gang goes through many difficulties as a result.

Eventually, Micah meets his demise at the hands of John Marston, with Dutch’s help, in the epilogue of Red Dead Redemption 2.

4. Final Fantasy VII – Cloud Strife’s Past

The reveal of Cloud Strife’s past is one of the most shocking events in Final Fantasy VII. Cloud was never a great SOLDIER First Class; he was simply a regular infantry troop. However, after the traumatic events of Nibelheim and Zack Fair’s death, Cloud was heavily traumatized. So, his mind wiped away the events of that day, and he adopted Zack’s life and history.

He then lived his life as a mercenary, pretending to be a former member of SOLDIER. However, this all changed during the start of Final Fantasy VII, where he eventually embarked on a path to heal all of his damaged memories.

5. Shadow of the Colossus – Ending

Shadow of the Colossus’ ending served as the game’s biggest plot twist. Wander made a deal with Dormin to revive his deceased lover. In this deal, Wander was tasked with slaying 16 Colossi, and Dormin would revive her. While Wander did succeed, he was eventually corrupted by the Colossi’s essence, turning him into one.

After the elders chase him into the Forbidden Lands, Wander’s corrupted body is taken over by Dormin, essentially making him Dormin’s pawn all along. However, it is important to note that Dormin did revive Mono, Wander’s lover. So, technically, he did fulfill his deal.
