James “MrBeast” Donaldson, aka MrBeast, announced on Twitter that Beast Games has crossed 50 million views in 25 days. Beast Games is the YouTuber’s biggest project to date, with a prize pool of over $5 million. The production cost of the show is $100 million, according to the YouTuber.

The show launched on Amazon-owned Prime Video and it is one of MrBeast’s only major content projects outside YouTube. The content creator said on Twitter that one of his goals in 2024 was to pave the way to mainstream media for other creators.

Beast Games debuted on December 19, 2024, and will conclude on February 13, 2025. The successful show also has its share of controversies. Multiple contestants alleged that the production crew mistreated them and filed lawsuits against the production crew. The show is also under investigation by the Ontario Labor Ministry in Canada.

Beast Games Broke 40 Guinness World Records

Ahead of the show’s debut, MrBeast revealed that the show broke 40 Guinness World Records. Some of the records include “the largest pize pool for a reality TV show”. The previous record holder was Squid Game: The Challenge with offered $4.46 million in prize money. Beast Games surpassed the show and offered a prize pool of $5 million.

The show’s set alone cost $14 million to build in Toronto Canada. It houses the 1,000 contestants who qualified for the main event. The facility is equipped with houses, parks, and recreational facilities that contestants can access until the grand finals.

After reaching 50 million views, MrBeast said on X:

“One of my biggest goals with this show was to open doors for other creators and show we can make hit shows.”

Beast Games and MrBeast Are Facing Multiple Controversies

In September 2024, five contestants filed a class action lawsuit against the show’s production team. The allegations include emotional distress, poor working conditions, sexual harassment, inadequate payments, and other charges.

Amanda Rose, a former contestant, claimed in December 2024 that she suffered a “traumatic brain injury” on set. Rose alleged that no one on set referred her to a medical professional despite the injury.

On December 30, 2024, a report surfaced from Canadian news outlet CP24, that said a worker was injured during the show’s production in September 2024. Blink 49 Studios and Manhattan Beach Studios, the two companies in charge of production, are under investigation.

The incident was first reported by Complex and Rolling Stone journalist Steven Asarch in September 2024. He said:

“I can now confirm that at the end of filming on Sep 11, a 6-foot by 6-foot piece of the tower at the Beast Games fell on a crew member. Emergency services were called, and they were brought to the hospital where they still remain. A MrBeast spokesperson declined to comment.”

The Ontario Labor Ministry is investigating the situation while the class action lawsuit is still open. MrBeast and his crew have not responded to the recent controversies and lawsuits so far.
