Knowing the location of your Mycopunk save file on PC is important. This allows you to make backups, just in case it gets corrupted with new updates. Additionally, you can tinker with it if you have the know-how. This includes altering some options in the game that you are otherwise not allowed to.

The game does include a cloud save feature on Steam. However, it doesn’t hurt to know where you can find your save file. With that said, here is a guide on where you can find the save file location of Mycopunk on PC.

You can find your Mycopunk save files by following this step-by-step instruction:

  • Open File Explorer on your PC by pressing Windows + E.
  • In the textbox, beside the home icon, copy and paste “C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\LocalLow\Pigeons at Play\Mycopunk” without the quotation marks. Change the [Username] to the name of your Windows PC profile.
  • Press Enter, and you should be in the save file section of the game.

Inside the Mycopunk folder, you will see various profiles that contain files named PlayerData.saxon. These are your save files. If you plan on making a backup, consider copying the entire folder instead of just the “.saxon” files. This ensures you don’t miss out on crucial files, which may otherwise corrupt your save data.

Why Backup Your Files

Early access games can sometimes reset your progress when they get released. This is usually common in live service titles. However, Mycopunk is less likely to do this, as it’s not necessarily a live service title. But just to be safe, it’s always good to make backups of your save files.

On the other hand, Steam has a cloud save feature. When enabled, it automatically and frequently backs up your save files so you don’t lose your progress. If you reinstall the game, you can choose to sync the fresh install and retrieve your save files from the cloud storage when needed. This also works if you have the game on multiple devices. A good example is when you have Mycopunk on both a PC and a Steam Deck. This allows you to play your save file on both platforms without losing any of your progress.
