Blacktop will not have any type of progression or ranked play. This is solely a casual game mode for quick matches with friends or strangers. This mode features two types of win conditions you can set in Blacktop, which are,

Default Scoring

In this type of scoring game, you will set your game condition bar at the beginning of the match based on the number of goals needed to win a game. The first team to match the points wins. For this game type, any regular shot or dunk will give you 1 point, and a traditional 3-pointer shot will award you 2 points.

NBA Rules

This is the standard timed format that is made popular by the NBA. There will be four quarters or two halves, as per your choosing, with the half-time taking place right in the middle of each. If the scores are even by the end, there will be an extra overtime till a winner is determined.

Here are the steps to begin a Blacktop game in NBA 2K26.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the ‘Play Now’ tab.
  2. Upon entering it, you will see a list of game modes to choose from. Click on the second last one, i.e., ‘Blacktop’.
  3. Click on either of the five game types to proceed forward.
  4. Enter the game condition (score limit), meaning the number of deciding baskets to conclude the game.
  5. Select your team or members and ‘advance’ to begin the game.
