Push your way through the defense and score a fancy basket with a dunk in NBA 2K26 and lead your team to victory.

NBA 2K26 offers a challenging play of timing and strategy to improve your chances of reigning victorious. The objective of completion relies on which team is able to score more baskets within the given time. There are multiple ways to score a basket in NBA 2K26, one of them being dunking.
In this article, we will look at how to dunk in NBA 2K26.
Dunking in NBA 2K26

Dunking in NBA 2K26 is when a player approaches the opposition’s side and heads towards the basket instead of shooting from a safer distance. This move has its own pros and cons. The good part of it is, you get to be more accurate with your attempts with fewer chances of the ball going off-court or rebounding off the rim or the backboard.
The cons, however, include rushing into a formed-up line of defense and risking deflection from the defenders. To perform a dunk in NBA 2K26, press R2 + ‘Square’ or RT + ‘X’ when near the hoop.
When executing the dunk, you can add some extra flair to it by taking control of the rim. After performing the dunk, immediately hold ‘R2’. Doing this will have your player holding on to the rim for a brief moment before letting go and landing.

Types of Dunks

Doing a regular dunk, while effective in certain cases, is not something you can always rely on. There are several types of dunks you can use to increase your chances of success. Let us take a look at these.
Two-Hand Dunk
Button: R2 | RT + RS (up)
The Two-hand dunk increases the chances of success with the dunk. Not only will you have more control of the ball, but you will also be more effective against a stronger defense. To execute this move, you can hold ‘R2’ or ‘RT’ while moving the Right Stick up when you dive close to the rim.
Dominant | Off-Hand Dunk
Button: R2 | RT + RS (left or right)
Off-hand is another great tool to escape a sticky situation. The area around the hoop is the most dense, with all the defenders flocking around to stop your attack. This is where the off-hand dunk comes in handy. This trick distracts the defender into blocking our non-dominant hand. When executing this move, you will go around and dunk the ball with an unpredictable move with your off-hand, increasing your success rate.
Skill Dunk
Button: R2 | RT + RS (down)
Last but not least, the Skill Dunk is a stylish move that energizes the audience in attendance when executed. While the move is stylish and adds a factor of flair, there is a learning curve when it comes to timing the shot. To perform the skill dunk, you can hold ‘R2’ or ‘RT’ while pushing the RS down when jumping for a dunk.
With enough practice, you will be able to master the timing for each of these dunks. To learn more about the different controls in NBA 2K26, refer to the article below.

Dunk Shot Meter in NBA 2K26

In NBA 2K26 you can choose to either keep the assist shot meter on or off. What this does is provide you with a meter when your player is about to go for a jump. The moment you are in position, close to the hoop with your shot button held, the meter will rise upwards till it reaches the top green part. The moment it reaches there, you need to let go of the held button to perform a flawless dunk. There is a single meter setting that has an impact on both your jump shot and your dunks.
You can always choose to add or remove the shot meter. Simply do this by following the steps below.
