The Evil’s Protector in Necesse is the first boss that players will encounter. While it is easier to defeat compared to the enemies that follow and does not have distinctly different phases, the few new attacks it throws at you might be a little challenging during the early game. However, the risk is worth the reward because the boss also drops valuable items such as the Demonic Heart, which gives you access to better gear for progression.

Here is a comprehensive guide on how to summon and defeat the Evil’s Protector in Necesse.

The Evil’s Protector in Necesse is the first boss with flying abilities and a large size. This enemy only appears at night and will leave before sunlight hits; it is a bit like a vampire, though the game does not confirm that. To summon the boss, you will need a Mysterious Portal.

You can find this item as a drop from various mobs, specifically those that spawn at night or reside underground. Alternatively, a safer method to obtain it is to check the chests in the forest caves. Once you defeat the boss for the first time, you gain the ability to craft the Mysterious Portal for future rematches.

While the Evil’s Protector learns new attacks as you lower its HP, it does not have distinct phases that you can easily identify. At first, it will attack by firing three fireballs in a cone-like formation that expands as it moves forward. There are fixed intervals between attacks, so we recommend moving at all times and finding the gaps between the fireballs.

Once you drain the boss’s health to 60%, it will start flying and throw more fireballs at the ground. Thankfully, the fireballs have small red markers indicating their impact zones, so you can dodge them fairly easily. After a while, the Evil’s Protector will land and repeat the initial attack pattern. It will also start shooting bullets that chase you for a significant amount of time, so be prepared to run.

However, this is not the end. Reduce the boss’s HP further to around 25%, and it will learn a more powerful attack. This time, the Evil’s Protector will spin while firing around 16 fireballs in a circular area around it. Similar to the previous attacks, you can step back to find gaps or run before the radius expands to avoid the attack.
