New World was praised for its uniqueness in the MMO genre, offering incredible flexibility within the game and its impressive visuals. That said, it’s a challenging MMO to run on previous-gen hardware. The Lumberyard (now known as O3DE) game engine offers remarkable visuals, but maxing it out with an RTX 30 Series card, when it was first released, led to GPUs burning, screen blackouts, and several other issues.

After numerous updates, the game now runs without burning up GPUs, but its overall performance, although not phenomenal, is significantly better than before. That said, we have optimized the game, nearly fixing all of the inconsistencies within the game, while still maintaining the rich visuals, as well as keeping your frame rates high.

Note: New World Aternum is one of the few games that benefit significantly from frame generation. Regardless of your CPU’s power, you will experience frame time inconsistencies, resulting in micro-stuttering and jittery gameplay. We are using frame generation to address the engine’s CPU-bound issues, which in turn fixes the inconsistent frame time graph and ensures a seamless gameplay experience. Since the RTX 30 Series doesn’t support DLSS FG, provided it’s the only option, we are encouraging the use of Lossless Scaling for frame generation.

For RTX 3050, RTX 3060, and RTX 3060 Ti, we recommend playing at 1080p with these settings. With the RTX 3070 and RTX 3070 Ti, you can opt for 1440p.

If you own and use Lossless Scaling, we recommend enabling adaptive frame generation. This will help you maximize your monitor’s refresh rate, resolve CPU-bound engine issues, and enjoy silky smooth gameplay.  Additionally, keep an eye on the VRAM usage; enabling FG has a VRAM overhead. If required, fine-tune these settings.

For RTX 3080 and higher, we recommend playing the game at 1440p with the settings below. On the 10GB RTX 3080, if you enable frame generation via Lossless Scaling, monitor the VRAM usage closely; if it runs out, fine-tune these settings. RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti won’t have any VRAM-related problems due to their massive 24GB VRAM buffer.
