Everything you need to know about the Veilotl (Chapter 9) in Ninja Gaiden 4, including strategies and how to easily defeat the boss.

Veilotl is one of the easiest yet most annoying boss fights in Ninja Gaiden 4. While most of the bosses in the latest Ninja Gaiden are traditional one-v-one battles, that’s not the case with Veilotl. Despite it being a side boss and not one of the Daemons guarding the Dark Dragon Shrines, Veilotl is capable of controlling the undead horde. And as such, the boss tends to summon a horde of Draugrs midway through the battle.
While getting swarmed by Dragurs while also being attacked by a larger boss sounds extremely intimidating, Veilotl isn’t all that difficult. With the right weapon, you can essentially defeat the boss long before you clear the arena of all the Dragurs. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to easily defeat Veilotl in Ninja Gaiden 4.

Overview of Veilotl in Ninja Gaiden 4

Much like the DDO Commander or the Proto-Goliath, Veilotl is technically a “mini-boss,” albeit with a ton of HP. It’s essentially the boss that Yakumo comes across while pursuing the Cetus, which is one of the four Dark Dragon Shrine Guardians. Although Veilotl is easier compared to the Guardians, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. The boss has a few attacks that can easily kill Yakumo if you miss-time your dodges.
That said, Veilotl’s attacks are extremely predictable. Furthermore, although the boss has two separate healthbars, it doesn’t have two distinct phases, a la DDO Commander. As such, it’s more of a battle of attrition than skill. However, you can easily defeat Veilotl using Yakumo’s new Magatsuhi and its Bloodraven form.
Magatsushi is an excellent “crowd-control” weapon, and it works incredibly well against hordes. Furthermore, the Fatal Flash combo using the Magatsuhi deals a ton of damage, which helps tremendously against Veilotl.

Tips To Defeat Veilotl in Ninja Gaiden 4

Here are some tips to help you easily defeat Veilotl in Ninja Gaiden 4:
- For Veilotl, you primarily want to stick to the Magatsuhi. You can briefly switch to Takeminakata to counter some of Veilotl’s attacks, but that role can also be filled by Magatsuhi, albeit with better positioning and timing. You do want to steer clear of using Yatousen in this fight, as it barely deals any damage to the boss.
- For the first part of the battle, stick to using dodges and counterattacks to get most of your damage on the boss. You can stay close to the hind limbs of Veilotl to stay away from its attacking range. However, if you’re locked onto the boss, that’s not going to be possible.
- After you whittle down the first healthbar, the boss will summon a horde of Draugrs. Ideally, you want to clear the arena of Dragurs and then focus on the boss. However, Veilotl tends to constantly summon these enemies throughout the fight, and killing them only ends up making the battle longer.
- Instead, it’s best to focus your attention on Veilotl at all times and keep an eye on the Dragur’s grab attacks. The Draugrs don’t deal all that much damage outside of the grab attack or the poison spit.
- In the second part, Veilotl occasionally gets toppled and starts flailing his limbs. This is one of the biggest windows for you to dish out your attacks.
Additional Notes
Make sure to keep an eye on your Berserker gauge. The Berserker mode is going to come incredibly handy in this boss fight. Furthermore, you can use Veilotl’s summons to your advantage by killing them to charge the Berserker gauge.
