Nvidia has finally released the native port of the GeForce Now app, which delivers better performance, battery life, and experience.

Steam Deck users didn’t have the Nvidia GeForce app, so they had to use the browser to access the GeForce Now streaming service. Accessing the service from the browser resulted in a poor experience and reduced battery life. Nvidia understands that the Steam Deck has a large market, so the company announced it would deliver a native GeForce app later this year at the CES 2025 event.
Nvidia has kept its promise and finally released the native app on its website with clear instructions on how to install it.
The Native GeForce Now Will Deliver Better Performance

The new GeForce Now app on Steam Deck is a native Linux port, so its general performance and usability are fantastic. Browsing and navigating through the app is absolutely seamless, with no hiccups whatsoever compared to the experience on the browser. The new app can stream games at the Steam Deck’s native resolution or higher when connected to an external display.
For example, games will stream at up to 1440p with 120 FPS when the Deck is connected to a monitor. However, when the Steam Deck is attached to a TV, games can stream at up to 4K 60 FPS. Nvidia says future app updates will bring options like 90 FPS and more features. Also, games will run with HDR10 if you have a supported TV and an Ultimate or Performance tier subscription.
Nvidia also mentioned that playing games through the GeForce Now app on the Steam Deck will allow the handheld to provide 50% more battery life.
