In Oblivion Remastered, you’ll come across a wide range of food products from carrots to wheat and cabbage. While you can prepare meals from all of these, there’s one food item that does much more than add flavor to your character’s dishes.

We’re talking about Garlic, which isn’t a product that’s out of place in kitchens and the homes of Cyrodiil residents. However, you’ll need to carry a few Garlic with you at all times to prevent one of the game’s trickiest health conditions. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can get Garlic in Oblivion Remastered and what you can use it for in the game.

Garlic isn’t a particularly difficult item to find in the game. Search in crates, sacks, and kitchens to find plenty of Garlic. However, if you’re in a hurry and need several of these quickly, here are some locations you can visit.

  • Weynon Priory: This is where you meet Jauffre for the first time. Weynon Priory has 6x Garlic for you to scavenge and collect. Be sure to look in the main building.
  • Lazare Milvan’s House: You’ll need to go to Skingrad to find this NPC’s home. Inside, you’ll be able to collect 4x Garlic.

You can brew a variety of potions using Garlic. The following are the four alchemical effects tied to this item:

  • Damage Agility
  • Resist Disease
  • Fortify Strength
  • Frost Shield

However, the most important use of Garlic is in the cure for Vampirism in the game. When you faceoff against vampires, each of their strikes has a chance of inflicting you with Porphyric Hemophilia (Vampirism). While you can play the entire game as a vampire, most players would want to cure the condition as fast as possible.

To do that, you’ll need to complete the quest, dubbed Vampire Cure. In it, you will have to collect 6x Garlic to craft the potion that cures the illness. Fortunately, you now know which locations to visit if you don’t want to become a blood-sucking monster in the game.
