In this guide, we shall go over how to solve the three puzzles in the Wisdom of the Ages side quest in Oblivion Remastered.
Oblivion Remastered has a ton of side quests that expand upon the lore of Tamriel, letting you uncover secrets and find valuable loot along the way. The Wisdom of the Ages puzzle is one such side quest that sends you to Fort Bulwark at the behest of Sir Henrik.
Sir Henrik informs you of the Shield of the Crusader that he defended in his lifetime. The shield was in Fort Bulwark, and Sir Henrik died defending it. His spirit now guides you to reclaim the shield from the fort, advising you to “be wise” with how you do it.
As you head over to Fort Bulwark and begin your search for the shield, you quickly realize what the spirit meant by its advice. There are three puzzles that stand between you and the shield, and solving them is no easy task. If you wish to obtain the Shield of the Crusader but are stuck on the puzzles, we’re here to help. How To Solve the Wisdom of the Ages Puzzles in Oblivion Remastered
Tiles Puzzle
As you make your way through the fort, you will stumble across a 4×3 grid of tiles that you can step on. These tiles are a sort of switch mechanism that opens the door ahead. To open the gate, you have to step on the tiles in the following order:
- Leftmost tile on the first row (the row furthest from the gate).
- Middle tile on the second row.
- Rightmost tile on the third row.
- Leftmost tile on the final row.
Statues Puzzle
Progress further ahead and you will run into a chamber full of statues. Take a closer look at the statues and you will find a button near the base. You can press these buttons to turn the statues. Your goal is to ensure that all four statues face the circle at the center. After this, stand on the circle and you will be through with the Statues puzzle.
Rodger’s Chest Puzzle
The last puzzle in this quest is the Rodger’s Chest puzzle. You’ll enter a chamber with a Rodger’s Chest at the center. Around the Chest, you will find eight smaller chests. Your goal is to retrieve one item each from Rodger’s Chest and place it in the correct smaller chest. You’ll have to place the following items in order, starting from the chest on the right and working clockwise across the room to solve the puzzle:
- Rodgar’s Stone
- Rodgar’s Helm
- Rodgar’s Goblet
- Rodgar’s Sword
- Rodgar’s Book
- Rodgar’s Hammer
- Rodgar’s Skull
- Rodgar’s Gem
