The original The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has its fair share of detractors when it comes to DLC, often vindicated by the whole controversy surrounding the horse armor DLC and whatnot. Still, even the detractors can’t help but show love for the Shivering Isles DLC. Shivering Isles was the second DLC for Oblivion and has now been integrated directly into the main game in Oblivion Remastered.

The Shivering Isles expansion takes you to a whole new region that goes by the same name. Ruled by the Daedric Prince of Madness, Sheogorath, the region is about to witness a shattering event in the form of the Greymarch. We won’t go into any more details in case you’re a new player hopping on to play Oblivion for the first time, but the expansion holds the same grand scale as the base game and is absolutely worth your time.

If you’re slowly wrapping up Oblivion Remastered’s main story and now want to see what the Shivering Isles is all about, you may be left feeling a little lost, as starting the DLC is a fair bit complicated. If you’re unsure of how to do it, we’re here to help. In this guide, we shall go over how to start the Shivering Isles DLC in Oblivion Remastered.

To head to the Shivering Isles and start the DLC, you first need to make your way to Bravil. Once you’re there, you need to head to Niben Bay, which is directly east of the city. Exit the city gate that leads to the Nibenay Valley. Upon exiting the gate, look to the right, and you will see a strange island in the water. That’s where you need to go.

Head to the coast and swim across the water to make your way to the island. As you reach the island, you will notice that the strange rock on the island resembles a head, with a purple glow emanating from its mouth. Go toward the purple glow, and you will discover “A Strange Door.” Discovering this door will add the “A Door in Niben Bay” quest to your log.

Talk to Gaius Prentus by the door, and an NPC will emerge to attack him. Kill the attacker and talk to Gaius again. Follow through with the dialogue and enter the portal. You will meet Haskill on the other side. Talk to Haskill and exhaust all the dialogue to end the quest and begin the Shivering Isles DLC.
